Unless Wheeler was told by the staff to keep his visit on the hush and he's flat-out lying about it to other sites, I'd like to know how Flaherty could've screwed that one up so bad after talking to the kid face-to-face.
Kind of lame, but a plausible explanation:

    @LonghornDigest
    Kevin Flaherty
Have to apologize for the earlier Wheeler tweet. Typo in the e-mail. He'll hit TCU this weekend, OSU on the ninth and Tech on the 12th.

Thomas Johnson > Dominique Wheeler - JMO. Wheeler has a Lache Seastrunk feel to him, and I don't want any part of that, as far as I'm concerned.

I love Trey Hopkins. He'll be very good not matter what position he ends up at. Searels is doing a great job so far.

Thank goodness for Trey Hopkins' growth spurt. If not for a few inches, Texas is without a legitimate LT for another couple years.

Tray Allen could be serviceable, but as a senior he's not the future.

I know Josh Cochran could be a starter at LT for Texas, but Josh is a couple years away.

Theus might make a decision as soon as July. From the Worldwide Leader:

    Theus trims list
Earlier this week, ESPNU Watch List member John Theus (Jacksonville, Fla./The Bolles School) narrowed his school list to six — Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame and Texas.

“It was hard because everyone was coming after me,” Theus said. “All the schools that offered me are good and they all have something unique about them. Then you build relationships with all those coaches. So it’s hard to say no to people. Getting to a top six was challenging and to be honest, my original plan was to get it to five but I just couldn’t do it.”

Many feel Georgia is the team to beat considering his brother, Nathan, is about to start his college football career there. But Theus insists he will make the decision that best suits him.

“Everyone thinks I am going to Georgia because of my brother,” Theus said. “Of course I would love to play with him, but we told each other a while ago that we would each makes decisions that were best for us. But I can say that I think the coaching staff there is great. They are football coaches and good guys. I am up there a lot because of my brother, and I love the players, the atmosphere, the school and campus.”

Three other SEC schools are vying for this 6-6, 300-pound offensive tackle prospect.

“Alabama seems like they are always winning,” Theus said. “I went there for the Florida game last year and loved the atmosphere. I want to get back up there for sure. I like what they do at Alabama. I also Skyped with Coach [Nick] Saban for about an hour during the spring. That was really, really cool.”

Theus has not yet seen Arkansas.

“I think a lot of people were surprised that Arkansas made my list,” Theus said. “I first got interested in them when Nathan took an official there. He loved it and said I had to see it. Plus, we have a really good friend there. I love the coaches and they are an up-and-coming program.

“I love the coaches at Florida, especially coach [Will] Muschamp and coach [Charlie] Weis. I really believe that they are going to do a lot of good things. There’s a lot of pro experience on that staff, and I love their teaching and coaching approach.”

Theus also plans on checking out Notre Dame and Texas for the very first time.

“I am visiting Notre Dame in June,” Theus said. “I stay in touch with those coaches a lot. This is Notre Dame, a school with so much prestige. The academics are great, and there’s so much tradition.

“I have known [offensive line coach] Stacy Searels at Texas for a while now and first met him while he was at Georgia. Texas is just a very successful program and I have a lot of respect for them, especially Coach [Mack] Brown.”

The original Theus plan was to commit at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January. Now that’s up in the air.

“If I know where I will go then I will commit and not hold back,” Theus said. “It could be as early as July, depending on visits. I plan on seeing Texas and Notre Dame. I want to camp at Georgia and Florida, and I will visit or camp at Alabama. I am not sure on an Arkansas visit, and I may have to wait and take an official visit this fall. The most important thing to me is the coaches. They will be my mentors. The players and atmosphere will be big as well.”

S Kenneth Marshall has decommitted from Oklahoma State. Huge blow for them. Hopefully he starts to consider A&M strongly, he is a great player. Rumor that he is looking for an OU offer.

    Bill-

Nothing yet. The only thing worth mentioning is WR Cayleb Jones is not at camp due to family obligations (no word if he'll attend next weekend), DB Bryson Echols is coming for J12 with the younger DeSoto boys and QB Connor Brewer was recently invited to the Elite 11 camp. Lots of guys including RB Johnathan Gray arrived in Austin last night. I'm working on the final attendance list right now.

Good for Connor. I like his work ethic, it seems like Connor is at every camp or combine in the Western United States.

I wish Cayleb could make J5. I understand that Cayleb, Johnathan and Connor have been recruiting Estelle. Oh well, Johnathan and Connor can work on Kennedy today.

The J12 list continues to grow with Echols and Jamal Palmer.

Thanks TFloss. I am looking forward to the attendee list.

Nice, I like Torshiro spending two days in Austin with his teammate and 2013 target Chris Robinson. I also like Torshiro and Agholor possibly being in Austin at the same time.

That's the first time I've even heard Tyler Chapa's name. Way to be thorough Duane, but Chapa doesn't hold any offers.

The 2013 names are pretty impressive.

You have to think Chris Johnson is at best a Plan B behind Tyrone Swoopes and Kohl Stewart, but credit to the young man for making a camp.

Cavil is pretty interesting. I think he's Texas good and of course a legacy. Could be a potential Junior Day offer.

Good to hear that Darius James and Raulerson will be at the same camp. Hopefully those two get paired up in drills and Searels can have a better idea of their abilities.

There seems to be a lot of talent in Navasota for 2013. Aggie considers Navasota their backyard, so it'll be interesting to see if some head to head battles occur. I like Texas going into Aggie honey holes Navasota and Humble.

Ben Hughes is probably a top 20 player in Texas, but he's probably the 4th or 5th best DT in state. Wow the 2013 DT depth in Texas i is amazing.

TFloss any idea what Texas is looking to do at RB in 2013? James White seems to be the number 1 target right now, but Texas two RBs and who that second running back might be is a point of debate. The 247 crew has been talking up Katy's Adam Taylor as the possible second back.

I like Dontre Wilson a lot, but I have to agree he's probably best suited for Ramonce Taylor type roll than an every down back.

I'd add that I like James David quite a bit. Seems to have the size and talent of his brother. Hopefully James doesn't share Derek's criminal behavior and lack of intelligence. One would think that James has learned a great deal from watching his older brother's football dreams fall apart.

Great news. I wonder if mama Estelle finally put her foot down on those out-of-state visits. Just felt like he'd never make those trips.
