I hope it's less confusing than this copy of NHL 2k8 I borrowed. What's that, you want to do a trick shot? Ok, just hit the left trigger, then input these codes, also, make sure you're aiming with the right stick, and that you have a good burst of speed beforehand... blah! I need to set the controls back to buttons for slapshot, wristshot, pass and speed burst.

I bought NHL09 (iirc) and struggled mightily to do anything. The moment the right analog stick controlled everything having to do with shooting, I quit buying hockey games.

I beat my head against a wall for hours (days?) trying to "get it" and never did. I was used to NHL06 where a 4th line plug would score 30 goals and now I literally couldnt score one ing goal with Pavel Datsyuk.

Seriously, I could not score in that game. I played half a season and was last place in the league averaging less than one goal per game. I refused to change the controls back to the old days, so I just quit.

Unless something changed with the controls, I'll never buy a hockey game ever again. Shame, really.

    Practice makes perfect

NHL09 threw my off at first, but you just have to get used to it

I think I scored 6 goals against Boston, (I was playing with Chicago)

    EA-NHL games are awesome

That's pretty much where I am. 3 goals a game is an offensive burst for me, sadly. I usually get 1 or 2, and even then, it's almost always off rebounds. I can rarely pull off a 1-timer or a deke, too many f'ing buttons to press.

The worst part is that it's way too easy to score goals on rookie, and too hard on pro. No happy medium.

True (for me), thus the reason I do not buy them anymore.

Trust me, a little practice - and trying moves during a game - go a long way in this game.
