    Pippen only has 5 rings?

I would imagine the comment refers to Dennis Rodman, who was on all three second threepeat championship Bulls teams. So Jordan and Pippen would have 3 rings with only one HOF teammate each.
I never said Pippen only has 5 rings, I said he won 5 rings with only one other HoF on his team, which was the criteria (be it random and agenda-filled) set forth by namlook.

On a strictly basketball note, based on Rodman's defense (during the Pistons days) and rebounding (later on in his career), he probably should make it, just like how Dikembe Mutombo and Ben Wallace should make it. But he is hardly a lock, and his off court antics may put him out of the discussion.

Though thru 7 years Gasol couldn't win a single playoff game.

Then Gasol got with Kobe and got straightened out.
Where would Kobe have been without Gasol these last few years?

Kobe's an great robin, and only an marginal batman, he has never been unstoppable as other all time greats and his D is terribly overrated. Wade can play at another level . . . there is no point to compare.

Man, Kobe used to make in everything. Used to piss me off too. Ol' boy Bean has been lookin pretty old as of late though....I think his shot at more rings has closed, now that the Superteam has assembled in Miami.

LOL at these threads. Kobe has won 5 rings with only one Hall of Famer (or potential Hall of Famer) on his team. Kobe is the only player in NBA history winning five rings with only one other Hall of Famer on his team when he won his rings. Everyone else with 5 or more rings had two or more Hall of Famers helping them at the same time, including Jordan, Magic, Kareem, Russell...etc

When Wade wins four more and Lebron wins five with just the two of them and no Bosh they will match what Kobe has done.
You assume Bosh will be a hall of famer, which is not a safe assumption.

Also, Kobe's "other star" has always been in his respective prime. For example, Jordan and Pippen aged together. It's not like Jordan rode Pippen to a few rings, then traded him in for a younger sidekick like Kobe did with Shaq before getting Gasol.

Not to mention that Kobe's derived some serious benefit from Phil Jackson. Kobe didn't do without Phil. LeBron has had what? Mike Brown and Eric Spoelstra? We'll see what Kobe can do without Phil, assuming the Lakers don't trade Gasol or Bynum for Dwight Howard.

Who's been the other hall of famer on the Lakers the past 4 years? Fisher?

Still, he closed The Forum down in '99, en route to a head-to-head The Skunker over your beloved Bean.
    selective memory on your end..

I recall Kobe and company shutting down the Alamodome in '01 just as well on their way to the repeat and eventually the three-peat.

He wasted 7-8 opportunities to do do something in the finals, now it's less probable since he's past his prime.
