Thought I'd throw it out there. I don't think he works in our system, but he'd make a great role player for a team if AI was willing to become a role player.
Anyone think he'd be a good fit here for the Spurs?

Dude is kryptonite to any team trying to win. Let him go and screw up the chemistry on some Euro league squad or some dysfunctioning NBA team like the Clippers or Knicks.

Dude used to be really fast. Once he lost his speed, he was useless. He still thinks of himself as a star and that is the problem. The Sixers with a great coach put a great defensive team around Iverson's scoring. Though Iverson wasn't efficient, the defense made up for it.

No. But he's a great passer...wait...no he can't do that either...
He was once one of the greatest scorers and toughest players, the NBA has ever seen. Yes he had a deserved MVP season in 2001 - but only because head coach Larry Brown had the good sense enough to take him off the ball because he realized Iverson wasn't a PG. A decision that AI fought with the coach time and again throughout the season.
The point is AI volume-shooting, me-first, undisiciplined style was great for scoring points in bunches, but was never conducive toward winning.
He may need to practice this time and perhaps play from the bench too.

LB was also the coach, and he took a Pistons team with NO stars to a LoB trophy, and another Finals, to boot. I'd think it had more to do with him than AI, since AI never came close again.
It was also 10 years ago.
If he can sign for dirt cheap, then it's a nothing to lose, something to gain situation.

That's EXACTLY the point. If LB hadn't finally convinced AI to give up the job of masquerading as a PG, they would've never went anywhere.
AI has amassed a career of great individual success, but very little team success. What the makes anyone believe that he's all of a sudden going to start now?
He would be a great part of a rebuilding program. During the two years that the team has to suck anyway. Keep the fans from getting all confused and optimistic-like, but still make a few fun plays along the way.
I'll say this for Iverson. Pound for pound he was the toughest guy I ever saw play. He used to get the crap beaten out of him on the way to the rim, and he never complained. I don't think I ever once saw him acknowledge a cheap foul against him, except by making the FT's. And for most of his career, he had the most minutes per game in the NBA.
I've seen him roll an ankle so badly that most players would have been out for a month. He went to the bench, laced the shoes up tighter, and came right back in.
Say whatever bad about him, but he was a tough little bas . And he always gave the Spurs a hard time. (Note: all past tense.)
He didn't say he played in Euroleague.

How do you figure "making a few fun plays" and taking away minutes from the guys who need them part of any "rebuilding" program?
I actually started writing a response to that, and then thought, "Who am I ing kidding?"
The Spurs have a whole lot of fans who have never had to go through the warm and fuzzy process of re-building. The meltdowns are going to be legendary.
