In his prime, he was one of the better pure scorers in the NBA. He worked with at-risk or trouble young teens to help them get onto the right track in their lives. He made his mistakes in life but he recovered, he learned from them and encouraged others not to make those same mistakes.
Here's to one of the great Spurs! Mike Mitc .

Having been through a series of cancer deaths in my family, yeah, I totally understand that.
RIP, Mike.
I'm grateful that I got see him play. Did he participate in the Spurs championship celebrations as other former Spurs did? I hope so.
His "Master of the mid-range" game is now pretty much a lost art in today's NBA. I think he deserves to mentioned along with other great mid-rangers such as Adrian Dantley and Bernard King.
Remembering and celebrating Mike Mitc![]()
He brings back hood memories. R.I.P. Will always
Be remembered.
Mike was one of the best Spurs ever, Id say in the top 6. A good man off the court as well. His number should have been retired years ago. RIP Mike.
Well Done Mitch!
You made a difference.
Thanks for the great memories.
RIP
Exactly. From all accounts I've ever heard, in addition to being a perennial all-star caliber-type player, Mitch was an absolute sweetheart of a guy. He always appreciated fan support and always took time out for autographs or even just to "chew the fat" with a total stranger. Additionally, he was very active in the community. He was just a good-hearted, charitable, down-to-earth, family man.
Never got the chance to watch him play but RIP Mike, God Bless to your family
RIP and peace to his family. That's a bitter twist.
