I wish people will stop with the whole PC hate. Although I enjoy my 360, I know that PC games will always be superior. It's just the way it is. Consoles are just more family oriented and appeal more to females and kids which is why they get more attention.

Well yeah I have all three consoles but that's by choice. I have the money to afford all that and the exclusives each one of the system brings. The PC as a platform has nothing that I want. So maybe I should laugh at you not having money to afford a console instead of leeching off your 12 year old nephew. The difference here is that if there's a PC game that I wanted to play, I can build and afford it. You have to go leech off your nephew.

Who cares about exclusives? I imagine most devs are putting it on as many platforms as they can, seeing as they have ever diminishing returns. Cliffy B was on the Joe Rogan Experience yesterday, and he said he is way more worried about gamefly/gamestop and other services/used sellers than they are about piracy cutting into their bottom line, and that the publishers are starting to pull in the reins on budgets, even for games like GOW.

Exactly, and those are the types of games I primarily play. Games that actually make you think. You can throw in city builders and turn-based strategy as well. If you like button mashers then you're right where you need to be. I even get the sports games I want on PC, chiefly NBA2k11 and Fifa11

I'll still list em, but E3 is clearly directed toward the console/handheld crowd, most PC exclusive have already dropped, and those that remain that I'm into are primarily cross platform, which I'm fine with. The problem with consoles is that you pretty much have exclusives on one side or the other (xbox/PS3), meaning you almost have to buy both. However, when there is an exclusive on either XBOX or PS3, it's almost always on the PC as well.

I have no clue if all of these are being featured at E3 or not, and a few may already be out

PC gets far more exclusives than does the XBOX, with the PS3 having just slightly more. I don't even include Nintendo in this discussion because it's more for families and those who love gimmicky bull

Also, les like BF3 will be developed with the PC as the lead platform and ported to consoles, which is how it should be. However, it remains true that the PC gets far more ports than do consoles.

In a perfect world, everything would be developed for all platforms, which is fine with me. But facts are facts. For performance, graphics, cutting edge tech, an avalanche of free games, total number of games, les that cater to adults, modding, and hardware customization, the PC has no peer.

For families, people who like action/fighting games, and simplicity of use, consoles are clearly superior.

I'm gonna drop 1500-2000 g's on my new rig later this year. I guarantee you it will still be superior to the next-gen of consoles, and in all likelihood last me another 4 years. Not to mention the endless amount of other things I can do with it. The value is immense

Portal 2 is multi-platform, with the developers themselves stating that the PS3 version is the best/most complete option (before the PSN kerfuffle, at least). And Minecraft was announced as coming to the XBox360 during the Microsoft press conference.

Minecraft was still released first on the PC, with a sizable lag between PC/console release.

Witcher 2 will also eventually end up on the 360

It's possible there will be others on that list that go multi, which is a good thing.

It is an afterthought, I admit. But every game thats available for both consoles and PC are always best played and experienced on a PC. I loooooong for the day when console gamers can play against PC gamers in any compe ive game, whether RTS or Shooter. There is a reason every time its tried, its scrapped because the moment you put someone with a controller up against someone with M+K, the only chance the console player has is based on coded aim assists.

it deeply saddens me to think about what would have been if microsoft had gotten behind the (gaming) HTPC concept rather than creating the XBOX. would have been coming into its own right about now, and stomping the consoles without even being one. wtf could playstation 3 have claimed had microsoft gotten PCs a substantial foothold in the "living room"? does everything? graphics superiority?

why microsoft why? you had media center and all it's potential in what, 2003? why didn't you stand behind it? develop it? 8 years it's still basically the same thing. could have been hulu/netflix/amazon vod long before any of those 2 bit operations staggered onto our TV screens via a console or crappy TV app, could have partnered with DirecTV for a DTV PCI tuner card and forgetabou ...

now there's that intel mifi thing or whatever it's called, we could/should all be gaming, tivoing, directving, internet media streaming, etc all wirelessly from a computer tower that's over in the office!

but no, instead we have just another console that's basically the same as the PS3 but a little less powerful and capable. while the PC continue to shrink back to little more than a utility, a business tool.

PS3 is cheaper than building a PC. Thats the bottom line. Most people can't even build a PC. They fry the mobo or put ram in backwards (lol viva) so then you're talking about the price for a PC from a place like best buy compared to the ps3/360. Its really no contest and people don't care that much about graphics anymore considering the difference really isn't all that to write home about.

As a console and PC gamer/owner for the past couple of decades there's no question that the PC is by far superior imo as long as you know what you're doing. One of the biggest selling points for the PC is the ease and accessibility of user created-content like mods, maps, skins, etc. Basically free and even professional-level content that you won't really find on a console.

I agree that the graphics look terrible, but the tried and true gameplay is there. Depends if a solid community gathers around it, IMO

Out of those games, I think that Diablo3 will end up being king, both in terms of sales and probably even community size.

Guild Wars 2 and TOR should have huge followings as well.

tbh I was trying to troll someone in this thread but you took the bait, sorry about that.

BTW, RTS and shooters are two genres that bore me to death so that's probably why I haven't played a PC game in a looooooooong time. My last system that I built was a AMD 2500 with a Radeon 9500 Pro. Yeah it's been a good six, seven years and I dread the days when I needed to change the voltage of my system to overclock my system for a couple of frames, have a couple of fans in the case to suck out the heat, edit the ini of the game to make sure it's been optimized for my system and use modded drivers that have been messed around with to make sure I'm squeezing ever juice I can out of it. I don't miss the days of the 500 MB patch (those patches are bigger nowadays right?) for the system to make sure video cards are being supported and the developers have patched the game with a "10% improvement for X cards".

Sure Skyrim is going to be best played on the PC but I'm not a graphics (no offense to anyone) so I don't care. Give me the Uncharted games any day of the week instead of an RTS or FPS. I can basically lay down on the couch with my controller in hand and not worry where I have to lay down the keyboard and mouse. But these are all my preferences on why I enjoy consoles over PCs but there are good things going for the PCs and there are good things for the consoles.

Consoles as we know it today are going to be obsolete in the next decade or so due to cloud gaming so there's that as well.

Thats why my post wasnt hate-filled. There is nothing wrong with being an exclusive console or PC gamer. The only thing I ask is that at least have the sense to identify what strengths and weaknesses exist for each.

Console: easy setup (ie none), no upgrades, one time cost, proliferation and very streamlined online strategies (more Live, less PSN)

PC: mod community, bleeding edge tech and software, variety (far more than consoles could dream) and superior controls (not just shooters, everything).

Just off the top my head.

November is going to be a very expensive month; look at all these games: Battlefield 3, MW3, Uncharted 3, Halo Remake... I'm sure I'm missing some here.

Only game I'm getting for sure is BF3. I might skip out on buying MW3 new as a " you" to Activision and their Elite . If Bungie and Dice can do it for free they can too. I own every COD game made on 360 up to now. I haven't played the Uncharted series yet but if I get caught up in time it might be worth a look for me.

Halo remake is priced at $40 retail which is reasonable but I'm going to pass until its $20.

My most anticipated game of this year is Gears 3. So glad it comes out earlier in September.

There were several games shown that I want to play. However, there was absolutely zero original IP that I absolutely need in my hands right now. Uncharted 3, Resistance 3, Sly 4, and Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One are the only games for which I'm super, super eager, but that's just because they're from franchises I'm already hooked on.

Oh I used to be a hardcore PC gamer (half a decade ago) and I know the ins and outs of both but just for the sake of talking, I seemed more closed off than I did. It's all good and whether you choose PC or a console, I don't care. I just find it funny when someone comes in a thread with "lol consoles" or "lol PCs". I just find it so idiotic being a fanboy.

But saying on topic with this thread, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck this E3 sucks! There has to a diamond in this pile of that isn't a triple A le that makes me excited. The well is drying out. I'll guess I'll wait for the awards to come out to see if there's something I missed.
