A good article about his situation:
http://www.draftexpress.com/blog/Int...-the-Year-3641
a 2nd round draft and stash maybe?
bruno...tim varner of 48MOH mentioned u in one of his tweets about othyus jeffers......
impressive article that one.....
We need a big fast, drafting from Europe has its cons unless he is willing to leave Europe this summer.
He does seem faster than Tiago....Has a mid range shot..seems more agressive.

Man, we should draft Nikola Tesla instead!
I guess the Spurs would draft him at 30.
He looks fairly untouchable at just about any drafting position. The update Bruno posted suggests that beyond a hefty buy-out clause (which could become heftier following a likely renegotiation), Nikola doesn't exhibit much interest in leaving Spain following his acquisition of citizenship there.
Will apparently declare for the draft: http://www.tubasket.com/noticia/NBA-...ana/225049/105
By him making his declarations public, I wonder whether that is a sign that he's got a first round assurance from several clubs.
It may just be a ploy to renegotiate his current contract.

More bad news for the 2011 Draft: Nikola Mirotic on verge of signing a 3-year extension w/Real Madrid. Likely knocks him out of this draft.
Nikola Mirotic has a contract with Real Madrid for another two years after this season. This new deal would tack on three more on to that.

Nikola Mirotic's buyout right now is 2.84 million dollars. Would increase a little under the new deal. Not a managable number unfortunately.
I would still draft this kid in the 2nd rd if available...Would be 25 years old when he is available to come over.
Spanish league is a concurrent to the NBA to get international players.
Spanish club goes everywhere in the world to get young players. South America (Scola, Splitter), Africa (Biyombo, Ibaka), Eastern Europe (Mirotic)...
Now it's getting worst because these young players get the Spanish citizenship and teams lock them to big contracts because of quotas rules. On a side note, seeing Mirotic playing for Spain youth teams makes me puke.
NBA teams are seriously limited by draft and CBA rules while Spanish teams are allowed to do whatever they want. That's some unfair concurrence.

Nikola Mirotic is keeping his name in the NBA draft, according to his agent Igor Crespo. "He doesn't want to go through this process again."
Igor Crepo: "I don't know where Mirotic is going to get picked. He doesn't care if he's 1st or 2nd round. He'll stay in Spain 3-4 more years"
Spurs will pick him at #29.
at this point, probably a safe bet
agree with you if Bertans withdraws from this draft..If not its a 50/50 pick between the two as to who the spurs promised the pick too.
Anyone know how this guy's defense is? Statisticaly he looks su iously like Bonner.
He's 6'10, plays primarily from the outside, and is from Europe. Now what was that question again?
I don't think Mirotic was interested in a first round promise. Mirotic is under contract until 2016 with a big buyout. He is in the same case as Splitter. If the new CBA doesn't change that, Spurs will have to wait until 2014 to offer him a contract outside the rookie scale.
Bertans is in another situation. He makes significantly less money than Mirotic in Europe. A first round promise with a guaranteed contract is interesting for him.
Already been stated in this thread that he will be staying in draft....
I would not draft him. He's just to limited a player to make a 4 year draft and stash a viable plan...
Sounds like the makings of another Scola-type situation - in terms of the potential complicated and expensive buyout.
