Dampier was supposed to be the defensive anchor of the Mavs, but ended being an white elephant. Eventually by trading him the Mavs obtained the last player they needed for a championship team.

They could have probably win more with better coaches and better trades. It took the Mavs a really long time to put the right coach and the right combination of players around Nowitzki.

Props, but I was more referring to Mavfan giving people for being wrong. Most of them were as wrong as everyone else.

The only question mark on TC was his ability to stay healthy.

Hornets tried to trade him to OKC to get rid of his salary for expiring contracts, get under the luxury tax for the following season, and get two healthy frontcourt players in Chris Wilcox and Joe Smith who would have helped the team the rest of the season. If that trade went down, Hornets would have finished better than 7th in the West and possibly could have advanced out of the first round, plus would have had more cap room in the future. Instead, they get stuck with an injured TC and have to go with a rotation of Hilton Armstrong, Melvin Ely, and Sean Marks the rest of the season.

The reason TC was traded to Charlotte was because the Hornets felt he was damaged goods, plus they wanted to get under the luxury tax at the time, and acquire a durable, solid everyday center in Okafor who has been that. I would still do the trade to OKC today to be honest because it would have helped the Hornets alot more than having an injured TC for two seasons even though TC was the 2nd best player on that 2007-2008 Hornets team. His foot injury in Game 5 was a huge reason why they lost the Spurs series because they had to double Duncan the rest of the series and he was as effective offensively in the pick n roll.

I'm pretty sure Dallas had no idea what impact TC would have on the team especially after re-signing Haywood to a big contract, but to their credit, they started TC right away after proving to be healthy for Team USA and looking good in the preseason.

unfortunately not as lame as Donnie who is probably the worst GM of all time, along with mark "im a business computer genius but still somehow ing re ed" cuban.

All they have done is buy themselves more time to poach someone they really want. This gives them until the deadline to see if any better players become available. If not, even with the cap space, that is a major risk w next seasons FA class and the CBA up for renewal.

This I think needs to be explored further. I just saw things differently than most, but others saw it their way. I wonder if now seeing what transpired if smart posters feel more like I did at the time or more like the other poster?
