2009
2009
Thank you my Indian friend.
2000 finals game 4 vs. Pacers. Shaq fouled oiut on a phantom call, and Kobe took over and won the game in overtime. This was Kobe's first finals. He missed most of game 2 and all of game 3 with an ankle sprain, and returned to put the dagger in the Pacer's hearts.
I remember that. I thought the Pacers would win that game once Shaq fouled out. Kobe put the Lakers team on his back, and won that game for them.
Was det his 1st finals mvp ?
2010, when he dominated the "who can shoot 6 from 24 in a deciding game seven and somehow steal the finals mvp award from gasol" compe ion.
LOL, you know the answer to that. No one could guard Shaq in any of his 3 Lakers finals wins, so they just fed him the ball. Whoever coined the phrase "Kobe can't win without Shaq" forgot not only this game, they forgot what follows.
Let me ask you this. The western conference finals were the defacto finals in 2000-2003. The east just plain stank.
Now, who was the MVP in the 2001 WCF, Shaq or Kobe?
Bonus question, do the Lakers beat the Blazers or Kings in 2000 and 2002 WCF's without Kobe? You can't replace him with a similar style player, he's in, or he's out.
You guys are too Kobe obsessed. Give up and give him his due.
I take that as admission your thread failed, which my posts have proven.
It's where you can find the answers to your questions. You too could look smart. I don't want that kind of glory.
He was dominant in 2001, but people ignore that simply because Shaq was more dominant. I don't think T-Mac, AI, Carter, Allen or Pierce could have performed that level while being the #2 option.
I'm not a Kobe fan at all really, but he deserves a little credit for giving the 3-peat a dominant backcourt.
his 67 point game, more impressive than his 81 due to the degree of difficulty and crazy shots he made.
Remember when Fisher was hitting everything in 2001? That was a huge part why the Lakers ed the rest of the field in the Playoffs.
He doesn't have a 67 point game, but he does have a 62 (vs Dallas) and a 65 (vs Portland)
Obviously you don't want glory as your thread failed. Your question was answered in Kobe's 2nd full finals game. If you count the 2000-02 WCF's it happens many times. Now, we all know he hasn't shot well in finals games overall, but he still racked up points in finals games the Lakers won. If you don't want to consider those dominant, fine by me. He still won 5 rings, as many as Magic who had more help than Kobe did.
True enough, with Kobe there and Fisher shooting 3's at over 50% nobody could answer that. Just not fair to worry about diesel automatically getting a basket every time the ball was passed in the paint, Fisher hitting 3's half the time and Kobe putting up an unanswerable mid-range game.
2002 finals for one:
27 PPG
51% FG
81% FT
6 RPG
5 APG
Kobe often gets over looked for his performances during the Shaq era because how dominant Shaq was. 2009 Kobe was clear cut the number one option and had a great finals.
Kobe had a great 2010 finals sans game 7. But he did make up for it with those rebounds and hustle.
