I don't know how to express how thankful I am for everyone's help and prayers. So many people volunteered to watch the kids, bring food to our house for them, visit timvp in the hospital, run errands, etc. But most of all, so many people prayed.

Even just three days ago, it seemed he might not be coming home for a while (they were talking about a major liver surgery, getting a chest pipe installed and a bunch of other crap). Then all of a sudden, some miraculous test results coupled with some hard work on his part turned things around and he didn't need any of that. They came in on Monday night and told us that he might be going home Tuesday, I nearly fainted.

I'm so happy and so thankful. He's not in tiptop shape, but I'm so so glad that he's home.

(Oh and thanks to the hospital for letting me ignore the "visiting hours" and stay with him 24/7)

Oh and I never want to see a CPap machine again in my life (though it helped him a lot). Seeing timvp with that giant mask on for so many hours was horrible.

Thank you to everyone who sent well wishes my way. A week ago, the doctors were waiting for me to die to free up an ICU room. Today, I'm resting in my own bed feeling pretty darn good. After a month of being sick and two weeks in the hospital, I can't describe how good it feels to just feel normal.

Thanks again and now it's time to start catching up on Spurs trade drama
Glad you're back timvp. I was missing all the Lakaluva troll posts.

I'll have to look up the name of the bacteria but the docs said it's extremely rare. Like there are only a few cases in medical literature. The bacteria was susceptible to penicillin but I had so much of it in my body by the time I went to the hospital, it took a long time to finally knock it out.

But yeah basically it was a huge fluke to get the bacteria in my body. And then it created a softball size abscess in my liver that had to be drained. Along the way I also got a bad case of pneumonia (which was also infected by the bacteria) ... plus it messed with my system so much that I got anemia and diabetes. I had to get five blood transfusions and they were shooting huge amounts of insulin in me to control my blood sugar. My heart rate kept going from like 140 all the way up to 180. Oh, and I had fevers everyday of at least 103.

The doctors really have no explanation on how I got sick in the first place. I guess it was just bad luck and I randomly came down with some ancient bacterial disease.

Thankfully now everything is a lot better. I just gotta pray for no setbacks and I should be good before too long.
So how was it meeting Dr. House? Was he as mean as he looks on TV?

(Given the issue, I assume that's who figured out the cure.

    Welcome back dude.

Happy to hear you're home and feeling better.

Kick back, relax, fire up a fattie and watch some vintage Spurs footage (i.e. 2003 drubbing of the Lakers).

To TIMVP: Congratulations on your recovery so far and please, please, please take care of yourself...

We are all very happy that you are better.

To KORI: I know you are relieved to have your husband home. You should be.

You should also, however, remember to take care of yourself, too, Kori. You have been through a trauma as well, and nothing will be accomplished by trying to pretend that you haven't.

TO BOTH OF YOU: Be gentle with yourselves and each other.

    And ENJOY LIFE!!!

I can't even begin to understand how scary that whole ordeal must have been for you. I know it is easy to feel powerless in those types of situations and you deserve a ton of credit for holding yourself together. I will continue to pray for you guys and hope it's back to life as usual for your whole family soon!

CPAP/BiPAP is one of the greatest inventions ever, and since they started putting portable CPAP devices on ALS (and some BLS) ambulances, paramedics have saved many lives and even eliminated many intubations. It's a huge facemask so i agree it looks pretty frightening, but you saw the value of such a device first person! Because of CPAP, (and the fact Timvp is young and a fighter), he was able to pull through w/o being intubated, which can carry other risks. CPAP is a godsend for bad CHF and COPD patients too.

That's awesome to hear it work again--in such a critical situation to boot.
