Pretty sure you weren't serious but I can actually understand this easily because the US is built on immigration. However, I can't understand s like Rossi. :flippoff that .
Yeah... considering he grew up in the States... he would be a tide-turner for the NT...

It's a ing game. It's not like the countries are going to war. Apples and oranges.
Bull it's apples to oranges. If an American was at Mexico's stadium cheering for America during an America @ Mexico soccer game, he'd be lucky to leave with all of his limbs if America won. Lets not even pretend Mexico views a victory over America in soccer no different than a victory over other countries. The people I see who claim to be fans of Mexico's soccer team talk by far the most about Mexico's soccer team when Mexico is playing America. I never hear fans of Mexico's soccer team talk about how Mexico is gonna dominate Jamaica or Cuba. The victories they seem to care most about are victories over America.

You got me. People who use America for jobs, a better life, and an environment that doesn't have a 50% chance of being overrun by drug cartels should cheer for America. If Mexico was so much better than America, the Mexican soccer fans in America would live there.
    Yes Mr. Stereotype... Generalize much?

Who someone cheers for in a sporting event has little to do with Patriotism... not that I'd expect you to understand...

BTW the Mexican drug cartels are empowered by US consumers... the problem originates here... but of course, you seem to be blind to that supply/demand relationship as well... most anti-Mexican bigots are....

They're not empowered by US customers nearly as much as the US government keeping drugs illegal for no reason.

A crooked/stupid government doesn't deter me from cheering for the US's soccer team tbh.

Consumers pay up... it's the money that empowers those cartels (not our government)... don't be disingenuous... or is it that you've never really been confronted with that reality?

saying it's not the government. There are always gonna be drug addicts no matter what, the only way you could completely stop drug cartels is making all drugs legal so they can't be sold illegally at insane prices.

Last I checked, there's no drug cartels out there selling cigarettes.

Not that disimilar to the all-mighty Messi [not mocking him as Leo is my favorite player and possibly will be the greatest ever when it's all said and done]... and really just for the sake of validating your argument that 11 goals in 45 NT caps somehow minimizes Dos Santos as a NT player...

    Lionel Messi:
56 NT caps with Argentina, 17 goals...

extrapolating Dos Santos' 45 caps to 56 caps, puts him at 13.7 goals...

And how's this for kicks... again, just for number's sake...

    Javier "Chicharito" Hernández:
29 NT caps with Mexico (late start with the NT, here only recently in Sept. 2009), 21 goals...

extrapolating Hernández's 29 caps to 56 caps, puts him at 40.6 goals...
Which was exactly my point... if people rag on Messi and say his goalscoring with the Argentina NT has been pretty abysmal, yet he scores more than Gio, then how come Gio hasn't been nothing short of average?

I already said Chicharrito is the real deal. If he had a skilled playmaker to feed him (ie: a guy like Xavi, or Pastore) he would look 10x better.

It's because they play similar roles on the National Team as creators... Giovanni's assists weren't listed on Wiki, but the numbers would be pretty similar to Messi's...

I also brought out this comparison for a secondary reason... to show that Mexico's NT style better suits Dos Santos' game than the styles at the club teams he elected to play for after leaving Barcelona FC.... much like Barcelona's style better suits Messi's game than the style he's been forced into playing on his NT.

Demeriting Dos Santos because he hasn't exceled at club level, would be like saying Leo isn't great simply because he hasn't achieved much on the NT. It's a reflexive argument.

To me both players are great when thrust into a system that suits their game (obviously Leo is the world's greatest in this context).

So you can say you dislike Giovanni's game, and perhaps his 'at ude' (though I haven't seen enough of this behavior to suggest it's a chronic issue), but you can't really argue that he's a mediocre talent. At least not when you're basing it on subjective and cir stancial arguments more so than his performance on the pitch (when the game style caters to his forte)...

    Since when average = mediocre?

And yes, it's an opinion. There's all sorts of subjectivity that go into it. Is there any other kind of opinion in soccer?

Yes, the legality question is certainly an issue... but it shouldn't mask the accountability that you and others in this nation wish to disregard. LOL "there's always gonna be drug addicts..." that's a weak argument. The Government doesn't pay the cartels to keep them in power, only the money from the consumers' pockets can do that...

Face it... you've been justifying your hatred for Mexicans all these years using the wrong argument... just more sterotyping on your part... Just calling it like it is, you racist bigot.

What's worse is that I probably have a deeper understanding of what being an American represents, I probably embody more of it's ideals than you do... and know its history far better than you... it's a shame you feel I should be of Anglo descent to embrace that sentiment...

Further still, pretty soon Chicharito will be the Mexican National Team's all-time greatest scorer (topping Borgetti's 46)... he hasn't even feasted on the CONCACAF yet (this was his first CONCACAF regional tournament - and the opposition was select [wait 'til he plays the likes of Martinique, St. Kitts, Guadaloupe, etc... ])

Serious, maybe the rivalry Mexico-USA in football was bigger than I expected it. Many times in sports fans prefer to beat their neighbours than anyboy else.

Of late Argentina has had Mexico's number... especially in big tournament KO stages...

When one considers Mexico's head-to-head NT records versus other nations... Mexico has fared pretty well against most nations and obtained a winning record against most of them or drawn even with them... only a select few countries (only 6 ) have obtained winning records against the Mexican NT... and three of those 6 (Israel, Libya, and Luxembourg were due to a 1-game sample size, Australia also has a small sample size... only Brazil, and to a lesser extent, Spain, have shown consistent dominance in their record against the Mexican NT)... Mexico knocked France off that short list by beating them in last year's World Cup....

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexico_...ll_team_record

Anyways, volume-wise Brazil has handed Mexico the most defeats (20) [though Mexico has finally thrown that monkey off its back of late... and doesn't fear them as much anymore] followed by the USA (15) and then Argentina (12).

So yeah... both Argentina and the US have been the proverbial "thorn on Mexico's side" over the last decade...

In that context it should follow that the satisfaction gained from victory would be about the same (even while many choose to throw political context into the mix - I don't)...

But given Argentina's class, there is more satisfaction when Argentina is beat...

edit: 6 nations (I originally left off Spain)

    Argentina without a doubt...

We know we can beat the U.S., and they're really nowhere near Argentina in terms of skill (obv.).

The fact that we've played better then Argentina in some games and still managed to lose them, makes me even want to beat them more.
