The article I linked has her referring to her colleague right after awesome. Not the idea. I see no other way to read it except she is saying it's awesome the guy has the same basic idea.
I hate that about broken quotes. Journalists do it frequently. It should always be seen as a red flag, and not trust how they lay out the story.
Always verify when the quotes are broken. Don't trust the path the journalist is leading you on.
