Only the good sports ever have work stoppages. Why can't we have an MMA strike? Or the WNBA demanding more than minimum wage?

College football and basketball should save me. I'm especially looking forward to basketball as this draft promises to be a good one and I can spend a much more time scouting players since there will be no NBA.

I can deal without the NBA and NFL...looks like I'll be out of the country for a year, this coming fall. Great time for a lockout

All the OP's message did was make me miserable. Please, for the love of God, let there be NFL at the very least.

    Volleyball chicks do rule though.

I don't like to watch soccer or baseball it doesn't excite me. College basketball is ok but I don't get into it until the tournament. I hate how the 3 point line is smaller in college and I hate the 35 second shot clock. These 2 things really alter the game the way it is played. If the NBA gets cancelled for a year its not the end of the world I will just work out more.

How can you really say this about MMA? You may not be a fan of fighting, and that's fine, but you absolutely have to admire their business model. There's a reason why they don't strike. They owners and managers do their job, and that's properly manage. We as fans get the fights we want every time (not like boxing), when fighters do something really stupid more than once (i.e. Nate Marquardt), they get fired (novel idea!), and the fighters are actually still humble! I mentioned this in another lockout thread. When many of the fighters win, they mention the owners and thank them for the opportunity! Holy ! Could you imagine Lebron being humble? Not just saying it, but genuinely humble?

The fighters are the obvious draw, but they don't control the UFC. And that is a good thing! When NBA players have that power, we as fans lose out. It's everyone's fault, both sides, players for being fantastically selfish on a level most of us will never understand and owners for feeding that, throwing fuel on the fire, so to speak.

The owners have a desire that all of them, from the top to the bottom, make money. What's wrong with that? The league as a whole makes money, all of the players get paid, the biggest market teams make money, but then some of the others don't? Why own a team and not make money? That doesn't make sense.

Players have a great deal of power in the NBA whereas in the UFC the fighters don't. I don't believe that the UFC loses money, but some teams in the NBA apparently do. Do you see the business model that works in this equation? The NBA needs to be fixed, and it's from top to bottom.

Ah. Players wanting money = "selfish", owners wanting money = "shrewd businessmen fighting for Truth, Justice, and the American way".

    Thanks for clearing that up.
