I too wonder what Bielsa would do with this team.
    Romero

    Garay Mussacchio Rojo

    Mascherano

    Zabaleta_______________Datolo

    Messi

    Levezzi Higuain Di Maria

Relentless attack with high pressing in the other's team half.

Batista: "Pastore could play with Messi, but I don't like to change that much"

Gee... it's not like this isn't working at all...

    Messi, Lavezzi, Zanetti

    Those are Italian names

    LOL Italy
Cambiasso, Burdisso, Milito, Di Maria, Pastore (at least I think), and switching sports Ginobili, Nocioni... yeah, lots of Italians.

    Romero

    Garay Mussacchio Rojo

    Mascherano

    Zabaleta_______________Datolo

    Messi

    Levezzi Higuain Di Maria

Relentless attack with high pressing in the other's team half.
lol..I would change that by replacing Lavezzi with Aguero..and IDK about Datolo but I'd likely find 2 other replacements for he and Zabaleta.

So it seems I ddin't miss much while writing parts of my 10-page paper due Friday. Glad I didn't suc b to the temptation because I need every minute remaining until the due date to complete this project. LMFArgentina, LMFAFA, LMFATTHEDUMBESTSUBSIVEEVERSEEN. lol Batista, what a damn joke, elNono is completely correct, that guy has no capacity to coach this team. Any one of us here would put out a better team than he consistently does. I don't get his damn choices, especially with Lavezzi playing over Aguero, it's like he feels bad he needs to share the time. that, change the formation, put Masch in the back four (anywhere honestly) and play Pastore in an advanced attacking midfielder role. LMAO at this rate the team will never compete for a single world cup, completely disparaging this generation of firepower. The AFA will be forced to eventually name a new coach. Unfortunately, this won't be until 2 to 4 months before the 2014 World Cup.

lol, the defense is just goddamn atrocious. Save for Zanetti, all of the defenders flat out suck ass...they are pathetic. I don't get why there aren't more Argentine defenders that are faster than me with some ability on the ball, because right now I would give Milito, Demichelis, Otamendi, or any other defensive scrub imaginable a serious run for their money. Since this team is ing up so bad compared to their potential, might as well try a completely new approach of using only athletic and/or skilled players:

    Romero
Zanetti - Cambiasso - Mascherano - Clemente Rodriguez
Di Maria - Pastore - Aguero
    Messi - Higuain - Tevez

High risk, high reward. At least the less athletic players are proven performers this way, not some completely average citizens. LMAO, most of the Argentine defenders are average Joses off the street.

Nope. Lavezzi plays the 10 in Napoli. The strikers are Cavani and the Croatian dude I cant remember...
Cavani is a striker and Hamsik is a midfielder

I've followed Napoli this season because of Yebda

    lol Argentina.
Zero creativity on attack. These players are supposed to be great in 1 on 1 situations. Somebody needs to break down those defenses.
It´s really easy to play Arg today. You just wait on defense, and look for the mistake to counter-attack.
The D is a joke, but we already knew it.
One goal in two games? Give me a break...I´m so dissapointed.
And I want a "tank 9". Tired of midgets.

I will put this excerpt from IMHO one of the best comments said in the internets from an argentine:

it's time to wake up to reality. Argentina is just another mediocre latin team just like Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador, Chile.

Any of those teams can beat each other any given time. Don't worry El Che sees Argentina making at least the semi finals.

IMO mediocre team = win some, lose some but never go far in the world cup. Argentina was great once, now they are mediocre and back in the pack.

they missed 3 of the 5 easiest goals in the Cup so far.

They play like beasts but when it's time to put it in the net, they just can't. South american soccer is in a pathetic state these days. Before we used to say, Brazil + Argentina at least show some face in the world stage. Now that is no more.

while agree that argentina is mediocre in defense and GK and has been for several years now, mexico/chile/colombia/ecuador dont have any where near the amount of forwards argentina does. The problem is they are too similar, its foolish to play messi/aguero/tevez/di maria together because they are all small, fast 1v1 types- it works for barca because they have two playmakers. the closest we have to a true 9 is higuain/lavezzi/milito- the first two are really not that big, and while milito can play with his back to the goal he isnt much with his head either. We desperately need people who can go for a cross/corner, right now our best is Burdisso and he isnt very tall either. Against bolivia they had something like 16 corner kicks and werent even close to creating danger on any of them. freekicks is the same story, they are forced to shoot at goal because no one is going to win a header.

bielsa is not the solution. I respect him for his intelligence and work ethic, but he is a stubborn idealist, he flopped badly in 02 and though Chile improved with him as coach, they were really lucky in the WC and again Bielsa made some dubious decisions (like playing suazo who was coming from injury and basically useless the whole tournament). Bielsa would do a good job qualifying but crap out in elimination tournament be it the WC, CA, etc.

There are many more qualified argentine coaches: russo, bianchi, diaz, pekerman, even someone like cuper or caruso are more qualified than batista, and would get more out of these players. Since 06 argentina hasnt had the players to be a WC contender, but we still have enough to be a dark horse and certainly enough to win a copa america considering that brazil is rebuilding, paraguay hasnt been the same since cabañas got shot, etc. this is just a shameful display and it starts with the coach, there's a reason no one on earth plays a triple-5 midfield but this idiot thinks he is going to reinvent the wheel

Riquelme. that was my boy. He would be doing his magic with this squad. He is the main reason Argentina has won something in the last 10 years (olympics)

Yeah, they should have buried at least 1 (empty net)

But I think the colombian was thrown off by the foul, he probably thought the ing referee would call a penalty.
I guess he was surprised, plus it happened so fast

seriously Argentina is playing horrible. They want to score by walking the ball inside the goal.

what happened to the good ol days of Batistuta or Crespo. throw those mofos the ball and one touch it was 50% chance of going in.

This was the main difference between Argentina and the other south american teams. Now that difference is gone. They all a bunch of midgets trying to take 5 defenders on their own and barrel into the goal.

IMO take Tevez, Labestia out. Start Higuain, Kun. Messi needs to play from mid field. they are too crowded up top.

if that does not work. Take messi out and put in pastore, a better playmaker imo

Argentina's decline can easily be tracked back to a pretty bad generation of defenders and poor coaching. Half of the good coaches out there already burnt bridges with the federation's president, so they're no longer available.

All in all though, I thought Argentina had a good World Cup. At least for the most part they played 20x better than the they're showing now. I really think Batista is way over his head.

There´s no vocal leader on the field.
Maradona, Ruggeri, Passarella and even Simeone would shout to their teammates when they up.
There´s noone with that type of personality today.

Maradona is a motivator only. This would have been a tournament for him to win but oh wait, with his World Champ squad with him as a leader they choked in 87 anyway...
