There has been involvement from the government were they offer the most desperate of people (like parolees) these jobs. Neither has worked. Not everything is about production. We have three distinct branches of government, and it's the job of the legislative branch to enact, kill or change laws. The executive branch is responsible for enforcement and the judicial interprets. If we just start having the executive branch ignore laws, we are usurping the power of the legislative branch, and at the same time relieving them of responsibility. They will never make changes if we work around the problems.

Maybe I misinterpreted, but that to me seems like you're basically saying they don't because the Mexican immigrants are more desperate for those jobs than the homeless people are. Illegals being more desperate isn't necessarily false, but that's certainly not the reason homeless people don't do those jobs. Even with the illegal immigrants out of the picture homeless people aren't going fill that void.

Replacing illegals with homeless in the farms would work out as well as replacing basketball players with chess players would. They're not made for those professions considering their backgrounds...chess players being unathletic re s and the homeless being drug addicts/people with poor work ethic. I agree with DMC on that the law should be changed or enforced (truly enforced, and not Arizona-racist enforced, whcih would have been called racist as it was written had it been directed at the other minority.

I also agree with vato, no one will ever take those jobs if they are suddenly available.
If black parolees and the homeless don't want those jobs, no one will ever want them. Which means, unless the farmers improve the working conditions and wages, and the gov increase the subs, and food costs go up, things will remain the same.

The reason the homeless will not do those jobs is the same reason they won't do any job, because unlike people in many other countries, they aren't required to work in order to survive. The social welfare system in the US will allow a person to survive if they accept meager living, without working a minute. Sure they might hold a cardboard sign and parade around on a corner with a fake limp, but they don't even have to do that. That's just for alcohol and drug money.

this poor guy is living in another planet. Open your eyes, plenty of ppl all over the world are jobless, homeless, etc and they still manage to survive. The US is not the only country where homeless can survive

you really need to travel or at least watch the travel channel or some international news. You will see that ppl are not dropping dead overseas because they have nothing to eat.

ppl do fine. Some ppl just want a better life for their kids thus why they cross the border. A few dollars they make does wonders for their family back home.

Let me stress my point once again cause it seems you did not have breakfast today. Illegals come to this country because they want to improve their conditions. They can get by in their countries. But a few dollars saved up can do wonders.
