It was ok. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. I like his comedic timing and he's entertaining enough to me to carry a movie, but it wasn't great. My expectations weren't that great to begin with however.
Could not get through it. One thing I almost always hate is narration during a movie. Whats the point of watching a movie if the story is explained to you like it was an audiobook? The zoom camera shots were annoying as too.
Pretty disappointed.

I loved that movie. I expected it to be good and it still exceeded expectations.
son I agree. I gave it a shot simply because of De Niro, but the warning flags went up from the get go with Bradley Cooper starring in it.
I couldn't even get into the subject matter. The zoom shots and audiobook narration were so distracting. The narration really kills me. If you need a damn narrator to tell your story in a movie then you probably really suck as a director.
When that woman used a little girl as a weapon by swinging her into a badguy, I knew this movie was going to be a classic.
If used correctly (and sparingly) it can also add to the film. Shawshank.
I read Shawshank way before it came out on film so maybe thats why it didn't bother me there. However, I also don't think Shawshank is that great of a flim as most people do.
Apocalypse Now is another good one.
Naked Gun series as well![]()
How much is too much? Every word...over five min...etc
I think that's why Ridley Scott went back and did a director's cut of Blade Runner. The Harrison Ford narration was removed.
limitless was one of the best of this yr, not even transformers or your ty super 8 could hold a light to it.
on a side note, shawshank was damn good!

Well crap...
I can't look at Bradley Cooper's face without wanting to slug him. It's very irrational.
Limitless was ing horrible. I don't particularly hate narration, but I'll be damned if the dialogue wasn't complete and utter crap. I couldn't get through it either.
I thought it was pretty good. Cooper was pretty decent, I thought.
and Shawshank is a classic.
When you guys say you cant get through it are you saying that you literally turned it off or walked out the room/theater? It's a dumb question but I just can remember the last time i walked out of a movie theater no matter how bad. Now I can understand if you did not intend to see the movie in the first place.
Like the wife just happens to be watching something and I sit through it for five minutes but then lose interest. Thats understandable. But for example I just watched Kick-Ass in Blueray. My expectations were not high but I intended to watch it. The move Sucks-Ass! But I still sat through it.
I didn't see this movie (and I probably won't), but there are a ton of awesome, classic movies with narration:
A Clockwork Orange
Apocalypse Now
Taxi Driver
Goodfellas
Raising Arizona
Fight Club
Fear And Loathing
The Usual Suspects . . . Shawshank, of course.
I really like narrated movies when they are done well.
It's no There Will Be Blood that's for sure.
Some people have to have car chases and crashes and killings and gratuitous sex in order to enjoy a movie...
No, some people just appreciate the literary version of a work better than the film version because of the greater detail. People think that Shawshank was a good movie because the story was so good. And it is. That doesn't change the fact that film does not capture it nearly as well as Stephen King's novella.
Try again, dumbass.
