Why doesn't Rapinoe start? Personally I think she should.

IF Rapinoe is to start, that means Pia would most likely drop Lloyd instead of Cheney. Lloyd is the most creative U.S player even though she can be turnover happy at times. Plus Rodriguez owns Japan this year...scoring every time they've played. This might be enough to get her going knowing she's had previous success against them. Pia seems to be a non drama type of coach and will most likely stick to her same rotation of players. U.S can hold its own for at least a half in case tactical changes need to be made.

Am i the only one that's incredibly worried about Japan, due to what they did to Sweden? That plus their defense and the way they hold the ball. The USA's backline and midfield can't afford to up on Sunday. This is a different Japan team than the US has beaten 3 times this year and 19 other times. They're dangerous.

Its the same team. US needs to rest between now and Sunday. Thats really what held them back today - they were tired as . If they can keep their legs then they'll be fine. How is Japan going to defend Wambach? (lol over rated)

beating the team, that beat the USA.

beating germany (I dont need to tell you about the WC streak of the host).

playing the best soccer so far in the playoffs.

a type of soccer, that prevailed so much over the last decade when you look at teams like Barca or the spanish NT (mens soccer, but I think posession soccer translates great into womens soccer if not even better).

the US team plays well and Japan will have problems with the headers...Uh wait, didnt we think that against Germany und Sweden too? problem is: with their type of play, its not like they give away a million of set pieces...they pressure early und it will be hard to get easy crosses.

    Against Japan...
    Sweden hat 2 corners.
Germany got 7, with most of them beeing in the hurry up offense late.
NZL had 3 corners, MEX 1 corner and ENG 3 corners.

So its not like the US team will have chance after chance after chance.

Imho, the USA didnt look good against France either. They took it in the last few minutes, but if France wins that game 2:1, nobody would have called it an undeserving win.

I'm from germany and I tell you what: The media here is allready crowning Japan as champion(and not coz they beat us, but they look so good!). The USA are basically underdog.

Not sure, if I agree with that, as the USA will have a big experience advantage, but right now, if you would put a gun to my head, I'd take Japan too.

After all soccer is depending a lot on luck. How about the cross to Womback against Brasil beeing eine inch to far? How about Japan blowing that one chance they got against Germany. How about Sweden going up 2:0 in yesterdays game? How about US or Japan winning their group, than facing totally different opponents?
Wouldn't be surprised with either outcome here as well. If Japan goes up 1:0, the US-team has a big problem, coz they wont touch the ball a lot after that. Thats just what teams like Spain/Barca do. They hold posession and suddenly the game is over. If the USA team goes up 1:0, I can see Japan strinking back easier. I think, thats what makes me take Japan.
