I used to feel the same thing about soccer. I hated it and despised any and all things soccer. When I moved back to SA in 2004 that Mayor we had here wanted soccer over NFL. I hated him. I loved Mayor Hardberger for many reasons but also because he didnt give a what the naysayers said. He at least tried to steal a couple of NFL teams.
Back to my original point though. Once I had kids and they turned of age to start thinking of a sport to place them in they were interested in soccer all on their own. They already play golf with me regularly, so I said it. Lets see what youth soccer is all about. My son was 3 when I placed him in his first league. He scored 12 goals. My Daughters team went undefeated and she got a great work out and dropped her weight to recommended BMI. My son scored 12 more goals the next season at age four. Then this last season at 5 he scored 30 goals in 6 games.
My wife and I coached our daughters team and she excelled and scored 5 goals her self. Once you get involved with it and you start to even coach it the mentality totally changed for me. I still don't watch much soccer but I will watch all the major tournaments finals though. GO USA!!!
