srsly? It seemed like a huge thing when Japan knocked out Germany. Maybe just cause they were hosting.
Not much of a fluke when you show that type of heart and come back twice. It takes a lot of guts not to fold after the Wambach goal in ET.

Even though they are ranked 4th, it's a pretty massive upset. The gap between USA and Japan was bigger than the gap in their ranking.

Choking is an overused term, IMO. Japan could've been up if not for a bad call by the linesman. The Japanese played great defense for most of the game. The most resilient team won.

Yeah I watched like 10 minutes of this game before I got bored and decided to watch my lawn grow instead. During those 10 minutes all I saw was the US curbstomping the Japs but blowing every chance they had.
Missing a penalty kick is pretty unexpected from a professional athlete, female or not.
yes they choked plain and simple. even MannyIsGod could have blocked at least 3 out of 4 of the U.S.'s penalty kicks. they were pathetic
Exactly. Saying the US choked takes so much away from the fact that Japan just played amazingly when they had to and the fact that the US was pretty god dam clutch in this game.
I guess the fact that the US didn't play perfectly equates a choke to some people.
We literally gave them the first equalizer and missed so many chip shots. How is that not a fluke?

Quit being obtuse. You clearly didn't think Japan had a chance going into the game. You were as smug about USA as anyone. Of course during the game as you watched Japan fight, you thought there might be a chance, but when USA goes up on you twice, you really think it's over.
The comment was clearly referenced about an overall mindset going into the game and even watching USA miss chances, most thought USA would win.
I know you want to keep propping them up for everything, but they choked and Japan played well enough for the win. They aren't mutually exclusive. It doesn't mean they suck, it just means they had a let down.
When you miss as many chances as the US, give up two leads and miss 3 straight penalties, that's not all Japan broesph.
1/5 is not insignificant, and one of those kicks was pretty weak too.
