As a Mavfan this should be a no brainer

The easy choices for me are either the 2008 or 1984 Finals...probably 2008 because it's fresher and I hate the gots who are/were on that team, moreso than mchale, bird, etc.
A darkhorse pick would be the 1998 WCF against Utah. Would've been cool to see Shaq, a young Kobe, Eddie, Fish, Horry, Van Exel, et al battle MJ's Bulls. It probably would've been a sweep like the Jazz series, but it still would've been sick to see.

For the Lakers? '89, ing swept after sweeping everybody else. That's easily the most painful playoff in my book, but '08 is up there too.
Injuries to Magic and Scott derailed any chances of winning against the Pistons. Sucked, but imo it doesn't come close to Game 4 of 2008 Finals. That was the lowest feeling I've ever had as a Lakers fan. To this day I haven't watched games 5 or 6 of that series--it didn't matter after Game 4--it was over. I was despondent for almost a week and avoided ESPN, sports radio, and ESPN.com like the plague.
To this day the only sports moments that were more crippling were superbowl xxv, the music city forward pass, and the horrible bull PI call in the 2002 Fiesta Bowl.
sons for Spur fans its gotta be the joke of a "season" that was the 1999 NBA season. that year was nothing more than an exhibition / practice year because at least half the players and coaches weren't even trying.
1989, 1998, and 2004. All three of those years the Lakers had the horses to get it done but either health (1989 and 2004) or inexperience (1998) did them in. That should have been 3 more rings right there.
Edit: If I had to choose one it would have been 1989. Damn you Pat Riley and your marathon practices.![]()

The Spurs made it seem that way huh?
LOL @ not being able to pick one for your own team, you've never been close enough for one series to matter. LOL
2004. That was a ridiculous Spurs team on a monster run that got derailed only because LA stopped guarding Turkoglu at all and the fat couldn't hit a wide open shot.
Hornets, doesn't even matter what series you change.
I obviously wanted them to win, but part of me still wants to see if the 2007 Suns team fully healthy, no excuses, tied 2-2 with HCA had what it took to close that series out. I easily could see it as a situation where a team (the Suns) has the upper hand and doesn't have a clue what to do with it.
1984 easily ........
It was a series the Lakers dominated and choked away, hence the name "Tragic" Johnson.
Game 1: wins in Boston
Game 2: has the lead and the ball. Bad pass by J Dub. He has a tremendous game and it was overshadowed by that steal from Henderson.
Game 3: Beatdown
Game 4: up 5 with the ball and 59 seconds on the clock. Goes into overtime. Magic misses two free throws and the C's steal one.
should have been a sweep.
06 Spurs/Mavs because the Spurs would have definitely beat Miami. 04 is up there but Detroit was pretty damn good that year.
lololololololololololololololololololololol 2008 lakers![]()
Easily this..... EASILY.
LOL SONS you are on the SPURS ! That is all you talk about! Why not the 08 series you guys lost handily in game 7! NEVER were in the game really!
Your TEAM has no game really they want back! They have just been horrible for years.Mavs had not shot at the Spurs in 03, THE SPURS only lost games as they would then by blowing a big lead and getting lethargic! They tend to do that from time to time with that team! Dirk went out and it was basically 2-1, should have been 3-0 but SA BLEW GAME ONE! SA's frontline was too much for them to handle that year, period! They were just too deep for the Mavs. Kings should have been there IMO, if Webber is not hurt it is SA and Kings WCF for a take all! Duncan was on a F IN MISSION that year, GOD could not stop him.

09' first round was a good win for us where we defeated the spurs 4-1, it felt really great to beat your bitter rival in the playoffs but i wish it had gone the other way. spurs were the superior team to lakers that season imho they just lost the mavs series due to match-up problems, had they taken another team in the first round their playoff run would've been a pleasure cruise, they would've easily made it all the way to the finals (knowing the mavs couldn't have get past the 1st round taking another playoff team instead of the spurs). lakers looked good but they were no match for the 09' spurs imho
Wasn't Manu out for those playoffs man? If so no shot at all! When their second best player is out it's a wrap for them. He is their grit and clutch time player, he was out so they went out 4-1 to the Mavs, unfortunate but it is what it is.
