I'm not really sure where to post these science articles....but this forum has a crowd which seems more suited for this kind of info versus the club.

At any rate here is the link:

Posting from my phone is a bit tricky, so no quote sorry.

We're all even then. Now about those subatomic particles..........

Yeah you are. The Question is: are you interested enough?

I thought the LHC wasn't running at peak capacity yet. As far as the boson, finding it or not will advance particle science either way, so the way I see it, it's a win-win situation.

One of the few times we agree.

Agloco I think that this is where your education starts to show over ours. I can read the article and understand what it is saying (I have been following this story for years), but I really don't have the ability to have an opinion (at least one backed by anything). I think that this is one of those subjects where you are a spectator or a player and no in between. I do love reading about this though and hope that either way a lot will be learned.

Agloco, neat find. Still though, even if the Boson IS found, it may vindicate string theory but does that really leave us any closer to a ToE?

I like to think I keep up on these things, but, admittedly, I'm completely ignorant of this particle.

I think it's there... I mean, the Standard Model can only be true if the Higgs Boson exists on the Higgs field... everything points to it being there, and if it's found, it will be the final puzzle piece in explaining the origin of mass... LHC may or may not show us it's existence.... if it works... I'm not sure which consequence would be a bigger deal tbh.

    The Higgs-Bison particle?

That is next on their to-do list, I hear.

Could not have said it better. I still subscribe (vicariously) to Scientific American so as not to be left behind, but I realized a couple years back (speaking for myself) that its all or nothing.

Especially particle physics/quantum mechanics. Such an incredibly strange set of laws that do not relate in anyway to our macro world, therefore, not intuitive.
