Yep, that is Dirk you are looking at. He has long been the face of the franchise for Dallas, which has achieved basically nothing in that time.

They have been to the Finals, only to watch Dwyane Wade and Shaq take it from out of their mouths. Dirk is a great shooter, in part because he is 7 feet tall, but besides that, what does he do?

For a 7 footer, he only averages 7 rebounds per game. Add his 2 assists per game to that, and what do you get? Well...not much.

Dirk has never been anything more than a 10-18 foot jump shooter that won't ever play defense

I don't see what's funny about it at all. When the article was wrote he was definitely one of the most overrated players in the NBA.

Hilarious that you'd defend Dirk by showing the championship trophy when the article was published in early 2010.

i dont think Dirk has improved a whole lot as a player over the span of a year. Dirk this year has been doing pretty much the same thing he has been doing since the Golden State meltdown. he has been much more aggressive in the post, doesnt take , and is an absolute machine in the clutch. unfortunately his teams hadnt gone far since then because he was surrounded with until late last season when Butler and Haywood was brought to town. I have a hard time believing that even Kobe or Bron could do a whole of a lot better with guys like Dampier, Antoine Wright, Ryan Hollins, and a young Barea all expected to have major roles on their team, all at the same time.

the difference this year is that Dirk finally got some balanced help, and some chemistry between the various teammates. and he didn't even need a second superstar (or even all-star) level player to do so. pretty damn impressive imo, far from overrated at any point pretty much since he took over as the sole leader of the Mavs.

the problem is morons like yourself and the writer of that article that dont know what the they are talking about. you see jumpers going up, and low rebound numbers, not looking at the whole picture.

Most impressive part imo. Dirk definitely isn't overrated, if anything the dude is severely underrated as he is the first player since Timmy in 2003 to take a team with no second option to the Finals and win. Good company imo

Although why is RJ on this list? Who the overrates that sack of ? Maybe in 2008 but now he's been exposed and everyone knows he's ing terrible

Dirk is the same player hes always been, one of the best offensive players of this generation. With his fadeaway being arguably one of the top 5 most unstoppable moves ever. As a result he didnt need much help scoring, but he did need alot of help in every other aspect. is a one-way player and its always funny seeing Mavfan completely overlook or twist that.

Offensive help isnt what hes needed...he had Finley, Nash, Jamison, Walker, and alot of offense during the Nelly years. He had a younger Jet, Howard, and a pretty explosive Harris. He had Butler in 10'. He couldnt get it done with either. Its pretty apparent that he needed players to cover his deficiencies (defense, rebounding, etc) instead of players to compliment his biggest strength (scoring).

Dirk had alot of help this year, just not in the scoring department. Its funny seeing dumbasses compare what Dirk did to what TD did in 03'.

the article was posted in january 2010, which explains why RJ was on the list....obviously, now he isn't even ratedPERIOD, no one gives a about the guy and he's been set to make way more than he deserves.

Sorry, but Terry played well enough, this season, to be considered a true 2nd option. That may not last until the next (played) season, but Terry was hitting it whenever Dirk wasn't...

Why isn't Roger Mason Jr. on there? The fact that hes on an NBA team (and drawing the requisite salary) is overrating him more severely than any of the others.

Actually let me rephrase that, the didnt have a bonafide established 2nd scoring option.

He did have some help in that department though...Terry's 18 ppg on 48 FG% and 44 3pt% although not great is a solid #2. Barea had his moments and made every single Mav fan on here eat crow. Kidd made his shots. Marion showed that he actually has an offensive game, and a better post-game than 7 foot Dirk tbh. Predrag resurrected from the dead and made his shots (until the Finals). Stevenson hit his open shots. Defensively, he was probably the worst defensive player in that starting line-up.

Was he the undisputed #1 of that team and proved alot of people wrong? Sure. Was this some legendary performance were he literally carried his team on his back, ala Duncan in 03' or Dream in 95'? Not even close.

yeah dirk just won a ring this year which however would make him more overrated, dirk still be dirk and i suppose dirk has been on a declining slope since 06. we got da best dirk in 06 when dat german allah carried the mavs to the finals single handedly
