$800 is not bad for a new rack installed, just fyi. Though I've changed a few out and if you were mechanicly inclined, you could do it yourself.
Probably got ripped off being at a dealership getting it fixed. That is what I get for having a ty Ford. Needed a whole new rack and pinion steering unit.
costed around 800 bucks.

I needed a new radiator and some place wanted to charge 2.5 hour of labor at 95 per coming out to final bill of a little over $600. I don't know about cars but for a radiator... I laughed in the guys face and left. Found a mechanic who got it done for 300.
Rebuilt transmission, $1200. 4 speed electronic automatic w/lockup.
2,500 for rebuilt motor and trans. He threw in the tire rotation for free![]()
Yea i was told some high prices too, then a friend did it for free i just bought the part...he did not want to take any cash but i force him to take 100 because I would feel bad for wasting his afternoon. He even did a oil change that day.
Bet he would have charged you to balance them though.![]()
I had a problem on my Galant where it would cut off here and there while I was driving. It was usually around the time the car would intially start. I took it to the dealer and they wanted $1800. I took it to this other mechanic and all he asked for was $600, BUT he couldn't pinpoint if it would actually fix the problem because he narrowed it down to one of two things. I think the reasons dealerships are always more expensive is because they don't know either. They just replace everything that could be wrong while your normal back alley mechanic will just try and guess what is wrong hence saving you ALOT more than the dealer if they happen to be right. But if they are wrong you probably will wind up paying them around the same amount you could had paid the dealer with less aggregvation. The mechanic told me it could had been some sort of air valve that was bad, or it could had been the entire computer system which was well over a thousand dollars. The dealership I think just rendered both items as toast and figured they would replace both. The mechanic happened to be right it was just the pvc valve, but him telling me he wasn't sure still had me driving on edge the first few weeks after I got it back.

I was ripped off in a car by a hooker who told she me was a female but really wasn't. Sort of the same thing?
You should reverse your penis so when this happens again, you can still use the hooker.
You must be a good looking girl.
Often places are rip offs. It's best to shop around.
if you hook up with her, is it like a threesome?
Don't know but I bet she gives great head.
My wife once paid 3k+ to replace her engine after a piston popped out the hood and hit another car...
Before she met me... I would have junked the car...
About 15K on a 2500HD work truck...brand new truck the guy spun out on ice and hit a bridge bending the frame...they had to disassemble the truck and put it on a new frame.
I just paid 2800.00 to get my Ford F250 diesel turbo cleaned, new "Y" pipe (old one had a crack) get a 4" turbo back exhaust, EGR delete and Airraid cold air intake, oh and a new SCT tuner.
The truck is paid for, and prior to this I haven't spent a dime on repairs for this truck. It's a 2004.
Funny about the brake quote listed above. Many years ago Firestone in San Antonio replaced every brake item on my 78 Olds Cutlass Supreme except the master cylinder and I still didn't have brakes. I bought a master cylinder and replaced it myself. Firestone told me they could not allow the vehicle to leave without brakes, but when my Firestone card was maxxed, they said "have a nice day". I never paid them a dime.
probably around $2200. Rotors, brakes, suspension and a new clutch/flywheel.
I know a very honest and fair mechanic in Rowlett. He pretty much does everything. Auto, paint and body work. I can answer any questions here but PM me if you legitimately need work done. He won't be back in the country from vacation til the second week in august though.
Was this for me?
