    Let's say Rory McIlroy wins The Masters. He wins by a healthy margin. However, his putting isn't always picture perfect. He has a few 3-putts, but in the end makes enough putts to WIN THE MASTERS.

    Did Rory McIlroy putt well enough to win a championship? Would you therefore say he displayed championship level putting?

    Is Dirk a championship level defender (knowing the context of what that implies) and did HE play championship level defense individually?

    Regardless of where you're going with it, no.

    Championship level play doesn't necessarily win championships, and certain aspects of play can be at lower levels and other factors can propel an individual to a championship, not the least of those being the play of the opponents.
