there was one scenario that might have had a big influence about the Lorbek situation.
reportedly Barcelona was interested in bringing back Ilyasova (last Sunday there was a report as sport.es).
this week was reported that Ilyasova has reached an agreement with Fenerbace for 3.5 M EUR (5 million $).
I'm pretty sure the fact that we didn't hear about Lorbek signing an extension with Barca was linked to this situation.
multiple scenarios:
-Barca offered an extension, but not an attractive one, because they were thinking about also signing an (pretty expensive) player, who would play PF as well. maybe that's why Lorbek didn't agree.
-the reported extension offer from Barca was wishful thinking (or negotiation strategy) from Lorbek's agent, while Barca was already looking for a replacement.
-Lorbek never really thought about signing the extension, b/c he wants to come over and Barca is already looking for a quality replacement. talking about the option to sign the extension is a strategy to get a better offer from the Spurs.
