even if he was better than Splitter, Lorbek lost this status the moment KBP claimed he is better than Splitter.
    Pretty much.

there was one scenario that might have had a big influence about the Lorbek situation.
reportedly Barcelona was interested in bringing back Ilyasova (last Sunday there was a report as sport.es).
this week was reported that Ilyasova has reached an agreement with Fenerbace for 3.5 M EUR (5 million $).

I'm pretty sure the fact that we didn't hear about Lorbek signing an extension with Barca was linked to this situation.
    multiple scenarios:
-Barca offered an extension, but not an attractive one, because they were thinking about also signing an (pretty expensive) player, who would play PF as well. maybe that's why Lorbek didn't agree.
-the reported extension offer from Barca was wishful thinking (or negotiation strategy) from Lorbek's agent, while Barca was already looking for a replacement.
-Lorbek never really thought about signing the extension, b/c he wants to come over and Barca is already looking for a quality replacement. talking about the option to sign the extension is a strategy to get a better offer from the Spurs.

Here is a brand new interview with Lorbek.

    http://www.siol.net/sportal/kosarka/...pri_barci.aspx

To sum up the whole thing in a sentence.

" I would love to go to NBA but Barcelona is my reality...for now.

BS. Fener's manager said they never made that offer to Ilyasova. They offered him half that and when he asked for double what they offered they ended any future discussion with him.
Sack up. It almost goes without saying a mountainballer post will have some bs to wade through.

TJ and KBP, the new dream team of functional illiteracy......

in case you didn't notice (you didn't, as usual), the post pointed to the report that Barcelona negotiated with Ilyasova and asked what it might tell about the Lorbek situation. nevermind.

He already signed with Barcelona for next 3 years. Real question is his contract and terms for opting out to NBA.

A scoring PF/C? Just what we need...

If he magically appeared on the roster next season (whenever that is), he would raise my hopes quite a bit on how far we could go next year.

    Are you sure about that?
I've read articles saying that he was negotiating a 2 years extension with Barcelona but none saying that he actually signed it.

The Euroleague's official website has never announced a signing that did not happen and was not official. They announced Lorbek signed with Barca, so yes, he did absolutely sign an extension with them.
    Link?

All I have found on the Euroleague site is they picked up his option for the coming season.

They picked up his option and extended his contract. They never make any announcements or statements like that unless it comes from the club itself and is official.
Then show us the official Euroleague statement saying Lorbek signed an extension.

    patience
KBP is busy to build a new website and write a blog that reports about the extension, so he can refer to it.

fact is, there is no relieable report that Lorbek signed the extension. (there isn't even a dubious one). all we know is, that they negotated about a two year extension and that obviously Lorbek didn't agree yet.
(I can see the open point is about the NBA buy out)

the fact that Barca is very quiet in the last weeks on the market and that they didn't sign new players during July could be seen as an indicator that they want to solve open questions first.

I will translate just a beginning of the article:

Erazem Lorbek is staying in Barcelona

Slovene representative Erazem Lorbek remains faithful with Barcelona, He prolonged his cooperation for one season, says the official web page of Catalan giant.

My sources are talking about 3 years, but that may be bull****.

But here you can see who is under contract with Barcelona and who left:

well, that's what we already knew. Lorbek had a contract with Barca till 2012 with a TO for 2011. and Barca pulled this TO one day after his rights were traded to the Spurs. this is his status. he has a NBA drop out clause as well. we don't know what the conditions are, but we can assume that theoretically he could still leave Barca this summer.

Edit: Barca has resigned Ndong today. so they have 3 centers in Vasquez, Perovic and Ndong. Barca has enough size for the center position, they don't really need Lorbek. they would have more use for an athletic combo forward/PF to go with the aging Pete Mickeal. that's why I think the extension offer from Barca might not have been that impressive. they will rather spend money on a player like Ilyasova and/or on a guard.

Yes, but if I understand correctly, the option would have to be picked up before the start of the european season, and there's about 95% of a chance that the spurs won't be able to do that, because the league will still be in a lockout. There's very little chance that he'll be playing for the Spurs in
11-12, even if he wants to.

This is the closest thing i could find about extension, but there seems to be no confirmation of actual signing of the extension:
S KZS-jem smo se dogovorili. Zveza mi garantira zavarovanje pogodbe za naslednjo sezono. KZS se bo potrudil, da bo zavaroval še dodatni dve leti, za kolikor bom podaljšal pogodbo z Barcelono.
    http://www.rtvslo.si/sport/kosarka/v...v-litvo/261773

"We made a deal with KZS (Basketbal Federation of Slovenia). The federation guaranties me an insurance for next season. KZS will also make an effort to insure for additional two years that i will extend the contract with Barcelona."

Spurs gotta stop drafting and trading for these Euro players, because all they do is use the Spurs for leverage to get better contracts overseas. Complete waste of time.

oh really. who would have thought that.
so a PF is strictly prohibited to play center and a center never ever plays PF. that's how the game is played?
oh wait. I heard it's about rotations nowadays. I heard a 6'11'' guy could also play center, especially if there isn't a pure center on the court. yeah, those things happen. and you know what, it even happened with Lorbek. and even stranger, Vasquez played some PF. you know how they build a roster these days? they take some big men and create a rotation and if you already have some big guys the need for more of that kind might no longer be that urgent. Barca needs a quality replacement for Terrence Morris in the first place, his poor play was one of the major reasons why Barca lost vs. Pana. Lorbek can't play that role, no matter if you call him PF or C. he is much to slow for that.

and just for the record: Lorbek did play some center, does play some center and will play some center. none claimed he played or will play 30 MPG at center.

BG Spurs Fan and Mountainballer have never actually seen a basketball. Mountainballer is the biggest moron on European basketball that has ever posted in this forum. Anyone that agrees with his "basketball analysis", is automatically relegated to idiot status.

BG, consider yourself permanently ignored for all eternity.

    tbh
I thought I had been ignored long ago. Do keep up, please.
