hold ur breath t-new is getting his groin checked after going down
I'm guessing he wants to be here, since he hasn't signed anywhere else. I hear we're still a little over the cap and trying to get under so we can sign him. Could be crap, but it's a rumor.

Finally some good news for our Boys...Elam signed...
SAN ANTONIO -- The Dallas Cowboys continue to systematically address their needs in free agency.
A day after agreeing to a one-year deal with Gerald Sensabaugh, the Cowboys on Wednesday night signed safety Abram Elam to a one-year contract, according to sources.
More on the Cowboys
Elam, who played for the Cowboys in 2006, will be reunited with new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan in Dallas. Elam started 31 of 32 games the last two years with the Browns and was credited by the coaches with 77 tackles last season to go along with two interceptions, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and 10 pass deflections.
Elam, who turns 30 in October, started 48 games in the four years since he was cut by the Cowboys. He had 13 tackles and a forced fumble with the Cowboys in 2006, but he was caught up in the coaching change after Bill Parcells resigned and Wade Phillips was brought in.
Since free agency began, the Cowboys have addressed their needs along the offensive and defensive lines with the signings of Doug Free, Kyle Kosier, Marcus Spears and Kenyon Coleman and have now done the same at safety with Sensabaugh and Elam.
The Cowboys are still looking at the possibility of adding more help on the offensive line in free agency.

Tbh the Cowboys will make a big step forward the day they don't go into the season expecting Terrence Newman to be an elite corner.
Already made that step, DoK..I don't think they expect that. At least I know I don't. He's average at best..especially with the constant ability to NOT be healthy.
Maybe you know he's an average corner, but it's obvious Jerry Jones doesn't. Mike Jenkins howeva idk why he sucked last year, in 2009 he looked like a future shutdown corner.
im not making this up, but before last season he said something to the effect of "i already made it to the pro bowl, so i have nothing left to work for"
it raised a lot of eyebrows at the time but most just shrugged it off. imo, it's a serious concern now after last season's lackadaisacal (sp?) performance
I don't know what happened last year...I'm hoping it had something to do with Wade Phillips...I don't have any other explanation for going from first to basically last in Defense. I can only hope Rob Ryan can get those boys going. With his defense, the way he blitzes a lot, we'll need good coverage corners.
I like Abe Elam, and old Kenyon was a pretty good signing for a stop gap, but how in the does Jurry think this secondary will hold up? Newman is done, Scandrick took immense steps backwards last year, and Jenkins, I don't know what the is up with him. After that there is what, ing Ball who was terrible last season at safety, and McCann and Owosu, who are totally unproven. Boys really needed to bring in a vet. Going to be a long season.
Ware and Austin both restructured, creating 12 million in cap space.

According to NFL Network's Michael Lombardi, the Eagles were Dallas' chief compe ion for Doug Free in free agency.
Despite one report to the contrary, Lombardi says the Bucs were never in the Free sweepstakes. The Eagles saw a chance to weaken a division rival and wanted Free "badly" to play right tackle in Philly. Aug 7, 4:51 PM

Cowboys sign QB Brandstater, WR after releasing 2
SAN ANTONIO (AP) - The Dallas Cowboys have signed quarterback Tom Brandstater and receiver Dominique Edison after they were cut by other teams.
Brandstater, cut by Miami, and Edison, who was with Seattle, were added to the roster in time for Sunday's practice.
Dallas had open roster spots after quarterback Zack Eskridge and nose tackle Billy Blackard were released Saturday.
Brandstater was drafted out of Fresno State by Denver in the sixth round in the 2009 draft. He was released last year after the Broncos drafted Tim Tebow and acquired Brady Quinn. Brandstater had since had time on practice squads in Indianapolis and Miami.
Edison, a Texas native who played at Stephen F. Austin, was drafted by Tennessee in 2009. He went to Seattle after being released by the ans this year.

I agree with this for the most part. I think Newman is done too, even when healthy last season he was noticeably slower. He is way too unreliable at this point, always a liability for lower body injuries.
Don't even get me started on Mike. I remember season before last in the ATL game, I thought the Cowboys had drafted their best corner since Deion. He had some punishing hits that game, a pick, solid coverage, and he fired up the D. I didnt see that ONCE last season.
Scandrick is fast and thats about it..he's less valuable than McCann at this point with McCann's return skills..that should be an interesting battle at camp though. Ball is getting switched BACK to CB again, he just cannot settle in. We do not have any playmakers at safety either..Cowboys need an anchor back there from this years draft for sure.
Hopefully Ryan lights a fire under these guys, I do like his at ude thus far.
Damn, I was at Chris Madrids the day before they were there. I went to eat right after watching their practice...![]()
It's football time, baby...tbh it wouldn't matter if Dallas wasn't playing tonight..I'm just glad football is back.
