Saw a do entary on Oprahs' network (not gay) called "Sons of Perdition" about some kids that left Jeff's cult. Very interesting, worth watching if one gets the chance.

I agree with boutons to an extent- we allow some religions to perform genital mutilation on babies, but then almost legal girls are out of bounds? Cmon, give me a break. Their parents knew what was going on, and though it may seem sick to some of us, it was their religion. Honestly, genital mutilation is worse than having sex -- plenty of 12 year olds have sex these days (sadly, some even give birth at 12-13 years old...), yet we punish this guy because of his religion and then claim its because he's over 18 (legal age, technically 17 is the age of consent though, right?) while the girls are under 18.

I remember reading Jeffs did weird things with boys as well as girls but whatever.
The fact that this "society" if you will went on as long as it did when people knew 12 year old girls were being forced into marriage with 50 year old men and neither the state nor the feds did anything is pretty sickening. It took two women who escaped to get on the news and basically cry for help before anything was done.
