Ok so I went into this a little unprepared. I didn't realize that you had to go in and join a clan until you are more established. I am glad that I spoke with my mentor before I actually joined up on Saturday.
So this is my question to you guys, is anyone interested in being part of my group? I know it's very short notice but I would really appreciate it. We would also need to come up with a name for our group which I was totally unprepared for.
I know how to sew so I can make a couple of makeshift outfits on the fly that will do for at least this Saturday. I can also spare one of my weapons but will need the other two. For now you can probably just get a couple of nerf swords from target and cover them with duct tape until you decide on what you want.
I left my number on the first page and you can always PM me if you don't want everyone to know that you are interested. When/if you call me just say that you are looking for because more than likely my dumb sister will pick up the phone.

I'm not committing or anything because I don't live in the area. But I may be able to take a bus every once in a while for battles. Do you think we could set up a GoTo meeting and do some virtual practices? Also, I think you should enlist Tyson Chandler as some sort of slave that is kept in chains until the battle. Then when you release him, he runs away and as the opposition chases him...BOOM. Take them from both sides (not gay).

Sorry to butt in. Why is this sexual with you? LARP at it's highest level demands physical fitness and extreme smarts and battle strategy knowledge. It's really no different than MMA. Both simulate acts of fighting without actually carrying it through to the deaths of the participants. My guess is the next big sport will in fact be role playing games.
Even though he won't admit it on here, TC has already PM'd me and called to join up. He isn't what he says he is on here but he is still down to fight so I don't think I would use him in that capacity. Arguing and fighting on here is one thing but he is actually a very cool guy and his skill at getting into the role is going to help out a ton once we start up.
I think virtual practices is a great idea. It will give me a chance to brush up on the lingo. Plus we can pretty much choreograph any kind of fighting style we want as long as we are very descriptive. Let me know when you get in town whenever you come by bus. Mister Sinister already said that his mom's van is available and we can just all ride out there together.

That sounds like a plan. The van would really help out. Especially if you guys can pick me up at the bus station. Having to rent a car makes the trip a non starter for me.
That's cool about TC. I figured he wasn't as big as asshole as he potrays himself. I look forward to going to battle with him by my side (no gay). I like the idea of choreographing the moves. This may sound cheesy but if you watch some of the old Power Rangers (the classics, not the remakes), they actually have excellent group moves. I think some of these would translate well to the battlefield. I wonder if Kori would let the Spurstalk website host the video practices???
I'll have to check out the Old Power Ranger tapes that I have to see what you are talking about. I'm not sure if you are serious or just messing with me because I don't think I can do some of the flips and that they did. I do think that I can take some of the moves they did when it came to their weapons though.
I think the biggest thing we are going to have to work on is unity. That is something I do know that the PR were big on teamwork so maybe we can all watch a couple of episodes together and talk about what we can use and what won't work. That is definately something that we can do online or just by phone.
Sorry. LOL. No, I didn't mean the flips and stuff. I'm not to that point either. But mainly the group moves and the defensive sets.
I agree on the unity aspect. In fact, that's a pretty good name for the team. "Unity". It's got a good ring to it. I really can't do much until the end of this month. But let's keep in touch and start planning. Looking forward to it.
In Romanian Unity is pronounced Unitatea. I know it isn't a language that is used for this group but I thought it gave the name a little flash. TC, MS and I will be there this Saturday and I will give you a call to tell you how it went. You can always call if you have any ideas or if you have any questions.

As for field tactics, you might spend a little time researching William Wallace, who really had an edge in 14th century guerilla tactics. Choice of battlefield and terrain is at least as important as skill at arms.
Of course, if all else fails, you could build a large, hollow wooden rabbit......

And why not? I mean sure people like you might not show any interest but there are millions that enjoy RPG's. Just think of all those that are not able to get out and join in but would be able to watch and maybe even interact through the internet.
No. Internet interaction isn't a "sport". It's a game. Two different things.
It's a subculture, and it will never be more than that.
Right, but what I am saying is that people would watch this and what would make it even more interesting is that, unlike other sports, people who would not be able to get involved otherwise might get a chance to.
I am not saying that it should be open for everyone to be able to log on and get involved but maybe just a select few who know strategy and history.
It could be great because it could be a good mix of reality TV and sports. The possibilities are limitless.

The next "big sport" will not be role playing games unless you consider "big" to be only among the subculture who plays RPGs. I don't play RPGs. FPS sure, but not RPGs. Nothing wrong with them, but strapping on hardware and pretending to fight is basically a re-enactment, an act, it's not a sport. If you really fight, people would watch that.
