Truthfully bigs are always superior to guards and forwards the majority of times. Michael Jordan is the only guard I would ever pick over a big if I was building a team. A few other perimeter players I might pick over a big is Magic,Dr J, Bird but even with those guys I'm not too sure about it. Great bigs are usually 99 percent of the time superior to great perimeter players the majority of times.

not from these boards, from different ones
You're mixing up value to a team with individual talent. They are two very different things. Also, I don't think a big can really go far without a good guard/SF or a decent overall back court.
Disagree you don't need great guards or SF's to win with a great bigman. The 94 rockets had solid guards in Kenny Smith,Maxwell, and young Cassell none of them were allstar caliber but they still won. 99 spurs Elie,Avery,Luck_The_Fakers_Luck_The_Fakers_Luck_Th e_Fakers_Luck_The_Fakers_Luck_The_Fakers_Luck_The_ Fakers_ were solid players but again weren't even close to being all-star caliber.
By individual talent are you implying that Kobe is better then Duncan because he can hit threes and dribble the ball down the court and do 360's that makes him better talent because Duncan can't do those things. If thats the case I disagree because when you are as dominant of a player as a Duncan,Shaq,Dream you don't have to work on those things because you can already put the ball in the basket easily at a high efficiency.
All great perimeter players always need allstar caliber bigs to win a championship while great bigs can still win without allstar caliber perimeter players. MJ is the only great perimeter player who has won a le without an allstar bigman. Also don't bring up Rodman because he was a one dimensional player that was just great on defense but had zero offense. Name me a great perimeter player that has won a le without an allstar big I challenge you to do that.
The rockets had a decent back court, like I mentioned before. I'm not implying Kobe is better than Duncan, because there is more to a TEAM game than individual talent.
Also, 1974 Celtics. Now name me a big that won it without a decent back court (defense or offense).![]()
Oh yeah, forgot who was MVP in that one. Look it up if you want
only 1 time has kobe shot over 40% from behind the arc & that was when he was still shaqs little boy. looks like he shouldnt have shot 4,185 3's
never said he wasnt a great player but he wasnt a more complete player than td in their primes. td was an unstoppable scorer as well as an incredible defensive force. kobe played well above average D but isnt an elite defender.
Kobe
2008 playoffs
1.367 PPS
2009 playoffs
1.311 PPS
2010 Playoffs
1.313 PPS
to put it in perspective
Michael Jordan
1991 Playoffs
1.406 PPS
1992 Playoffs
1.306 PPS
1993 Playoffs
1.261 PPS
btw, PPS = Points Per Shot (points/FGA)
You're a ty troll, tbh
kobe never shot 40% from the arc
how?
look those stats up yourself, their accurate
doesnt look like Kobes a volume shooter as you thought
Wrong thread
02-03 playoffs. would of probably ended somewhere in the 30's if it wasnt for TD eliminating & making him cry on national tv.
then why did you try and make a point about his 3 point shooting.
your a funny troll. a fail troll but a funny one
oh you were talking about in the playoffs, yes he shot 40% in the 06 postseason
and taking more 3s lower your FG%
and Kobe's team beat Duncan's in 2001, 02, 04, 08
so i dont see where you're going with this
that the only reason why he shot over 40 was because of a 2nd round exit.
i agree, shooting 40% for a long period of time is pretty hard lol
true... but I think a dominant big is harder to come by than a talented guard, with MJ being the sole anomaly. I think testament must be given to the fact that the finals featured Shaq or TD respectively for the entirety of the post-MJ era. Another testament must be given to the fact that Kobe never led his team to respectable contention without a dominant big man on his team.
You can argue that Kobe had absolutely horrid teams, but if you're to use that argument, then you have to expect the rebuttal of TD's '03 team. This doesn't necessarily downgrade Kobe's value, but it does elevate Duncan over Kobe imo, and if you're to rank the players in earnest, Kobe doesn't make top 10 if TD is in the 8-10 range, being interchangeable with Shaq and the Dream.
Kobe's team in 01, 02, 04?![]()
*cough* ahem *clears throat*
Lost NBA Western Conference First Round (4-3) versus Phoenix Suns
Kobe was playing better than Shaq in 01 and 02 vs the Spurs
buahaha! Thus Kobe's FMVPs those years? Thus Shaq playing through double and triple team defenses all game, and anchoring the interior defense due to his size alone? How many players can you name, that could dunk on a TD/Admiral double team defense around the basket?
At least I know to not take any of your posts seriously, now that you've let us all know how little you know about basketball.
rj & matt bonner did it
only year kobe shot over 40% was in 03. dont know where that troll got 06 from. lol
