Weaver seems to get frustrated easily. That makes his season even more impressive. Anytime Weaver doesn't throw the perfect pitch or someone hits a rocket off him, he seems to break down mentally, at least on the surface. I guess he hasn't had too many negatives this season to get frustrated over. But you'd imagine his compe iveness would get tempered by composure considering how good he's been all season long.

No doubt in my mind that Colby Lewis needs to be skipped a start. I don't care who they start in his place. Bring someone up from AAA. Start a bullpen guy to get through a few innings and then play merry-go-round with relievers. His next start would be against the Red Sox in Fenway. He is killing this team right now and has got to figure something out in the last month. And it could start with getting a few days extra rest.

WTF was Mathis thinking? He could have picked that ball up and thrown out Andrus so easily. That wasn't a good bunt by Andrus; it was lucky. Andrus wasn't even close to first when Mathis got to the ball.

And I'll take it for one start. I'll take 4 innings from Feldman, 5 would just be a bonus. I really don't care. We need Lewis to be sharper in the last few weeks. And this isn't gonna cut it. I know that Colby is much better on the road, but enough is enough with him. Game 6 of the ALCS was a long time ago.

    I just saw this article:

    http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/tex...-rotation-.ece

Harrison is being skipped and Feldman is starting on Tuesday vs TB. Exactly. But they should have done it with Colby instead.

somebody suggested that Wash go with a 6 man rotation, throwing Feldman in the mix, to give some of these younger guys some rest since they've pitched so many innings this year.

I like this idea instead; throwing Feldman in there occasionally to give somebody a rest

haren was the bust this series. I didnt expect both 3 day rest starters to get two wins, but i did expect Haren (with 4 days rest)and either santana or weaver to get one.

I still think this series was a win for the Angels. Like I said before the series started, I think the Rangers needed a sweep more than the Angels needed two.

You mean what was Mathis doing starting and playing?
Yeah his watching that bunt blew me away too. Nobody out. Baseball 101 is you take the out in exchange for the runner moving from 1B to 2B.

the only thing good about Weaver losing is that it may get us closer to weaver saying he doesnt want mathis as his personal catcher anymore.

but...but Mathis had an RBI single early in the game!

As a pitcher, you know you are sucking horribly when you allow Mathis to get an RBI hit off you. And Colby Lewis has been putrid.

It's sad because i think it could be a kick ass series between two evenly matched teams. Not that Washington is a genius by any means, but he trumps Sciosa in spades.

Would have loved to have seen how last nights game would've turned out if Weaver was pulled after the 5-4 lead in the 6th. Good Ranger bats vs relievers and vice versa when Angel at plate.

Props to both Angels and now Rangers for punking the Skunkies in the playoffs.
Lets at least have that policy continue!

Even Mario Mendoza is laughing at Mathis. Actually, probably harder than the rest of us.

Are you on angelswin.com? The hate for Mathis there is comical. Gives me a good read every day at work.

I love how they even had a censor for "Mathis" for a little while. "Mathis" turned into "%^&*#$%" or something of the sort.

Actually looks like we're bringing up Leonys Martin. Nolan said Berkman was worth considering, but apparently team sources are saying it ain't happening.

    Update..

The Texas Rangers call up Leonys Martin

Blogged under General, Front Page, The Minors, Bloglockers, Arrivals & Departures by chinmusic on Monday 29 August 2011 at 6:15 pm

The Rangers have called up 23-year old lefty swinging CF Leonys Martin. They just signed him earlier this year and started him out in the minors. Martin played in 73 games in Rookie+AA+AAA-ball for the Rangers and he was 89 for 302 (.295 avg, .783 OPS) with 53 runs scored, 4 homers, 42 RBIs and 19 stolen bases. The Rangers aren’t calling Martin up to sit him on the bench, so look for him to share time in CF with Endy Chavez.
