It's sad because it's true. The draft would only result in a slightly stronger bench

I think Barca was more impressive too, primarily because of their injury situation and how they were stretched thin for defenders as Puyi and Pique have been out. Plus Villareal is CL material.

But you have a point, they have been taking a dump on La Liga for 3 years now.

¡The fight is on in Spain!
Barcelona and Real Madrid fight to be the rulers of Spain.
    | 30-08-2011
in a Liga where Barcelona and Real Madrid bore beating everyone, the rest have had it. "If they want there to be only 2 games, do it", shot the president of Villarreal. "Its the biggest piece of crap on earth", added the Sevilla president.
The Liga of the stars was before. Now its the Liga of Barcelona and Real Madrid, or at least that is what the other 18 teams in 1st division think.
"This changes or we kill our league", said Fernando Roig, president of Villarreal, whose team (4th last season, 34 points below Messi and co) lost 5-0 to Barca. But he exploded because its been several seasons where the league is a contest between these two teams. "If they want there to be only two matches, well make it two matches, but this is not good for football. I give myself a 2 - 3 year limit", said Roig, who added that while he sells players "to balance budgets, others get loans".

On his side, José María del Nido, president of Sevilla, hopped on the train and started shooting. "La Liga is not the biggest piece of in Europe, but the world. Its like the 3rd world and only 2 clubs get the tv money of the rest", he said in reference to the inequality produced by the fact that barca and RM get half of the 600 million euro tv deal. "By god. ¿is there any fan who doesnt think the league is pros uted, poisoned, corrupted?", finished Del Nido...

Part of the reason this has gotten worse is the economic recession in spain. alot of teams have lost sponsors, attendance is down, and there is no competing with the budget of RMA and barcelona. for every player that comes from the youth systems, there are 2 that are bought for exorbitant transfer fees. The oil barons appear to be helping in that they are making irrelevant teams relevant, but in reality they are just exacerbating the divide between the rich and the poor.

that said, some EPL nut is going to take this and run with it, but seriously F the EPL, I'd rather watch a track and field compe ion than watch man utd vs wigan or chelsea vs westham. as far as im concerned the EPL is just behind la liga in terms of inequality, and with less quality play to boot. if you ask me the italian league is best, always has been, its just that the match fixing scandal temporarily set their best teams back and the fools that go by champions league won as the measure of the best league started proclaiming liga / EPL as best... iMO, of course

Don't need this to proclaim EPL as the best football league in the world. It's been like that for a long time now.

Spanish league is the equivalent of an NBA season where Celtics/Lakers would win 80 games in the regular season and meet in the finals every year.

These days the EPL is the same thing. The difference is a 5 team race at most instead of 2. BTW, Spain didn't used to be like this. It was not 10 years ago that Valencia or Villareal were pretty good sides with a shot at the league or the Euro cups. A club like Atletico Madrid was no pushover either. It just has gotten over the top now.

    Pretty damn significant difference tbh...

Exactly...the past is irrelevant, we're talking about now, AKA last 3 years and likely next many to come. It's a pretty damn pointless league, and it's really easy to admit man. I mean come on...all of the teams except 2 have literally 0.0% chance at the le. The only way a team like Barca or Madrid loses to the others in La Liga are some combination of multiple key injuries, fatigue from a mid-week (thursday) champion's league game, and playing a horrible game (which Barca rarely does). Seriously, all it takes for Barca or Madrid to claim their 3 points is simply showing up. I wonder how the F the other La Liga teams convince top players to join when they'd essentially be signing up to lose season after season.

I just feel the same way about the EPL, tbh. I don't think 5 vs 2 is THAT significant. Heck, the only chance I give Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal (included in the 5) of actually taking over ManU for the le is if ManU ends up with some injuries/tiredness from playing the CL. Early on, Citeh looks like the only other contender out there, and they just as easily could implode.

It's re ed. Who is getting up to watch Wigan vs <anybody>? Swansea vs <anybody>? Newcastle vs <anybody>? They have no shot, so why bother?
I even tune into ManU or Citeh games to just see how they're going to steamroll their next opponent. It's no different than watching Barça or RMAO.

tbh, I don't know that soccer needs a salary cap. But they definitely need better income distribution. It's stupid that on top of having the most resources, both Barça and Madrid receive more money from TV than any other team. Either split it evenly across all teams, or actually split it based on gate receipts from last season, starting with more money for those clubs that had less receipts.

No way, it's way worse in La Liga. LOL, Barca is way better than the top club in England, RMAO isn't far behind, and then there is a large drop off...and not so much because the 2nd tier teams in La Liga are poor, but more about how overwhelmingly talented the giants are, amazing players off the bench that are better than the majority of the starters of other squads. They are guaranteed to win, basically. Not quite as much in the EPL. Although the Manchester clubs are favorites this season, they aren't way better than the other teams right behind like Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal (lol), Tottenham.

Add to that most of the Spanish national team players, if not all, play for either Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Barca and Real are #1 and #2 in world, no doubt. These two teams would eat Manchester United alive.

Debatable about RMAO. Man U is even stronger than last year, and they're a much more cohesive team. It would definitely be a close match between them in let's say a two-leg match.

, imagine if they nab Sneijder today
