I haven't heard this before.
who says they can't?
Because they aren't able to bring in another school to take our place if we aren't officially gone yet............................................... .............
Keeping us hanging around is not good if they are serious about adding a school like BYU, especially when the PAC is breathing down the neck of the big12.
I haven't heard this before.
who says they can't?
No reason for the SEC not to give this some time to see if things work themselves out.
Why didn't they just wait on the invite vote entirely then?
Invite vote? Aggy had a standing offer!
OU dosent want equal revenue shareing they already get a big peice of the pie and don't wanna lose it.
You do know that OU voted for and receives the same amount of league revenue as Texas? Right? You know this? Their problem isn't the revenue sharing. You do know that Aggy receives the same amount as OU and Texas, right? You know this? The ones who recieve the least are not the ones who are always ing, crying, leaving, coming back, leaving, and getting -blocked. Revenue sharing isn't the problem here.
Please post one piece of evidence that states anything about OU and equal revenue sharing.
Pretty much what I have been saying. I'm just assuming that they will push this to Oklahoma and see if it keeps them in the big12. I know Oklahoma/UT and A&M were all getting paid the most through unequal revenue sharing, but this might be a way to keep the league stable and eventually turn into one of the "super conferences" or whatever. I doubt OU wants to go through this every summer.T. Boone Pickens Predicts Big 12 Survival, Equal Revenue Sharing
by Jason Kirk • Sep 8, 2011 10:42 PM EDT
Thursday night, Rece Davis got a momentary reprieve from Jesse Palmer and Jesse Palmer's friend to welcome Oklahoma St. Cowboys athletic department T. Boone Pickens behind the mic. The ethics of having a Big 12 booster in the booth during a Big 12 game are mighty sketchy, but Pickens did crowd out a talker who once got a Big 12 coach fired for no reason, so it's actually an improvement for the whole enterprise's credibility.
Also, Pickens is more optimistic about the future of the Big 12 than you or Baylor's legal department or anybody else does. He cited his geology expertise as cause for his optimism. Moving on.
With Texas A&M on the verge of jumping to the SEC as soon as A&M's current rivals agree to let them go, Pickens said he expects the Big 12 to work out their issues. How in the world can this mess be saved?
Equal revenue sharing, says Pickens, who knows some things about revenue. He quickly laid out a system that would allow Texas to keep its Longhorn Network, but otherwise spread money evenly throughout the conference, citing the SEC, Big Ten and Pac-12 as potential models.
Oklahoma State in the Pac-12 could be huge for Pickens' program, but it's growing just fine in the Big 12. It's not necessarily in Pickens' best interest for the school to stay in the Big 12 if the Pac-12 is calling, though, so his comments could be read more as an actual recommendation than as Bayloresque spin.
Then Craig James came back, so all that was over with.
You know Oklahoma State is tied into OU so Pickens might be onto something. They are a package deal.
Correct
I ask you to give me something tied to OU and revenue sharing (i.e. Stoops, Boren, Castiglione, Toby Keith, any dumb who played for the school, any booster, any head fan) and you give me a OSU booster who wants more revenue for his school. Good job.
that's one of the dumber lines of reasoning I've seen in this thread.
Read the post dip . I said I was "assuming" this. I never said it was fact, therefore don't have anything directly from OU. I'm not going around declaring that I KNOW this is fact.
If you think Pickens and OSU aren't tied at the hip with OU then you are a fool. They are a package deal, making the same requests.
Yeah it's ing re ed that a school would look for a conference with long-term stability so they don't have to go through this every summer....
it's beyond ing re ed to assume that OU would want to share one dollar with the Baylor krew to keep them around.
So no chance that OU stays in the big12 if it takes more of an equal revenue sharing stance.
Got it.
They're a package deal as far as the PAC 16 is concerned. In the Big 12, they're compe ors and I very much doubt that they're tied to the hip in that capacity. That's like saying Texas and Aggy are a package deal when wanting the same revenue.
And as far as being declarative, well...
Not necessarily when it comes to $ amounts but they do have a problem with how things have been run recently. They are just as skeptical of Texas than Nebraska and A&M were at this point, they just haven't been as vocal about it. They are going to want to make sure that if they stay in the big12 that it has longterm stability in the future and they aren't going to go through this every summer. By doing that you make everyone equal and quit letting Texas get/do all they want. If Texas abides and plays nice they will stay, if not then they will head west. If they weren't worried about revenue/stability/texas then they would already say were staying.
Equal revenue sharing to some extent goes hand in hand with conference stability. Look at PAC, B1G and SECYou sound pretty sure of yourself. Of course, you prefaced these by stating that it was your opinion. Oh, wait. No you didn't.OU and Oklahoma State are going to give the big12 and Texas an option. Stabilize the conference and go to equal revenue sharing throughout all its members or were going west. No more Texas is the best and the rest is next. It's obvious that without equal revenue sharing the same problem is going to constantly arise. Oklahoma acknowledges this and rather have long term conference stability at this point.
OU and OSU are nothing like A&M and UT in this capacity. The fact that we are leaving without them shows that.
I should have.
They haven't taken that stance. They haven't taken any revenue stance. What's so hard about this? That you made a re ed statement that was wrong and now you feel you can't retract? Just say you were wrong.
Wrong about what? I feel that if the big12 stays together that revenue distribution will change one way or another. What's so hard about this?
I'm wrong? We'll see..
You honestly believe that OU will take a smaller piece of the pie?
We all see you are wrong right now.
If they don't leave which is a big IF at this point then I think the league will have to revamp the revenue distribution. Texas would agree to this and distribute some revenue from the LHN if allowed to keep it as well.
