Just my opinion, but (a) they paid an exit fee and (b) when they left the conference the Big 12 got that new TV deal and the confernece wasn't on the verge of collapsing, well at least Mr. Beebe saw it that way.
Because when they left, there were assurances from the rest of the conference that they would hold together. I guarantee you that if realignment had happened last summer, Baylor would've gone biblical.

you're not relevant to any Big 12 TV contracts.
you're only currently relevant to the Baylor krew.
Stolen from the TT scout forum but I thought it was hilarious...

baylor stop your ing and go to the big east
All you angry Aggies are hilarious. How can you criticize Baylor, and Texas for that matter, for acting upon their best interest? Don't try spinning it into situation where their word is meaningless... DMX just shot holes in that argument. Face it, you guys look like whinny little brats.
We aren't actively preventing others from doing what's best for them. Baylor is doing that to us. Baylor looks like the crazy ex girlfriend trying to drag her boyfriend back with her.
Baylor, Texas, and every other University out there has the right to do what's best for them, and they should. That doesn't mean I'm not going to talk massive amounts of to baylor for holding us back from what we want. them. I've not once said that Texas shouldn't take money and do whatever they can to bring their program to success. That doesn't mean I hope the lhn fails miserably...
And what exactly did DMX do?
Also, we're not whining, we're trying to leave. How is that whining? The "B12 commissioner" made a promise that was fallacious - I'd say we have a damn good reason for being pissed.
Baylor isn't holding A&M back.
it's the SEC that is too scared to let A&M in.
How do you not see the hypocrisy? A&M leaving directly affects Baylor, as does the longhorn network affects A&M. it.... I give up. Did you graduate from A&M? I thought their students were pretty intelligent with all bull aside.
Baylor is holding A&M back.

Baylor is simply not waiving their right to sue.
It's the SEC that is not letting A&M in.
I'm not sure why this seems difficult for so many people to grasp.
Because of Baylor's action (or lack thereof) Texas A&M is not in the SEC. You're an idiot.
SEC can invite A&M regardless of what Baylor does.
A&M is not in the SEC because of the SEC.
You and every other Aggie pinning this all on Baylor are truly ing idiots.
It's on Baylor.
Can the SEC invite A&M right now if they wanted to?
I hafta agree with Sisk here.
SEC's like that somewhat prudish that won't letchoo without a condom. She COULD letchoo hit that bareback, but she simply refuses. Can't necessarily blame her, considering how many dirty "jars" you've ed in. Baylor, in this instance, plays the role of the only corner store open this late, but they're fresh outta rubbers, or, in Baylor's case, simply refuse to sell them to you.
Amidst all the frustration, you can't seem to help but blame "the corner store" for preventing you from busting your proverbial nut.
lol at the SEC being scared of a convenience store suing them for unprotected sex with aggie.
