News reports that thousands of rounds of ammunition have gone missing from Fort Bragg Army Base in North Carolina.

Officials at the base suspect the rounds disappeared from the base Tuesday night.

Its very rare any news leaks out of Bragg. I remember at one solderer a week would die from chute malfunction and it never left the base.

Yes, 14K rounds isn't a great deal of ammo. It's 14 boxes. It would fit under your bed most likely.

We've shot twice that in one afternoon. When you can dump 650+ rounds per minute, it doesn't take long to go through a few boxes.

My dad was stationed in Fort Carson in Colorado back in the late 70's. Packages of C4 and other munitions would go missing all the time, and was considered commonplace. Lots of guys liked taking the stuff home to 'play with', and stockpile for when the Commies invaded...

If anything, I am impressed that this made it out to the medial. There is a systematic disregard for property in the armed forces that has been prevalent for a long time. And it is very costly.

I saw that story when it broke.

    Yawn....

Just 223 rounds. If it was something uncommon, I might be concerned.
