Yeah Mcree was an idiot for fumbling it away, but that game should have been over earlier.
That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard/read.

"Yeah, maybe all Marlon McCree had to do was fall down on the interception and the game woulda been all but over, but it's Phillip Rivers' fault that the defense fumbling a 4th quarter interception even mattered! A real quarterback can't expect his teammates to do things like not fumble interceptions or not fumble punt returns! That might have been Phillip Rivers' first playoff game ever, but it's his fault that he needed his defense to do something as extreme as not fumble a game winning interception!"

That's not even the point. Rivers was crappy that game. They weren't winning because of him. LT was having a big game, Chargers defense was all over Brady yet Rivers was subpar. That game should have been a blowout. And then Rivers is subpar at home against the Jets two years ago when the Chargers were clear favorites.

They didn't lose because of him. You're also forgetting his role in 2006 was to basically be a game manager and take a backseat to LT. It was his first playoff game ever against the most seasoned, experienced team he coulda possibly faced. You won't find any non-Saints fan who thinks he lost that game or that Brees woulda done any better than Rivers has since becoming the Charger's starter.

I too was disappointed in Rivers only getting 378 yds today.

Also, at 20-14 with the ball in Patsy territory (again), it was his fault Tolbert took the handoff, had a running lane, but decided to dancy dance step backwords like he was Deon Sanders and ended up fumbling.

4th and 6 inches way to puss out and try to run it sideways Norv.

Part of it was Pat Chung shutting him down. The other part was that throwing to Gates wasn't necessary since every other receiver was wide open cuz of NE's ty pass defense.

I like the Chargers chances if they meet NE again in the playoffs. Brady went crazy again and if not for a couple -ups (not punching it in at the goal line, freak wilfork INT, and tolbert's fumble) then it'd been a different game. The New England pass D is atrocious. Rivers going off is understandable, but Henne?

Brady will get them by through the regular season if he continues his MVP play, but sooner or later that pass D's gonna bite them in the ass come playoff time.

I'm pretty sure you even called Belichick a defensive genius

Looking back on it and looking at how KC has collapsed this year, I'd say Charlie Weis was just as if not more responsible for Brady's development than Belichick. Horrible head coach, but one of the best offensive coordinators of all time. I have a feeling he's gonna turn Florida into a powerhouse pro-style offense in the SEC once they have enough time to recruit more players who fit a prostyle offense. Brantley already looks way better this year than he was last year.

Bill O'Brien is a huge upgrade over Josh McDaniels and he's growing as the new offensive coordinator, but if Charlie Weis was still the offensive coordinator for New England, they slaughter the Jets last year and probably win a superbowl.

The he did. He said he was a good DC.

So do you truly think Belichick is just some okay defensive coordinator who hit the jackpot with Brady?
To a certain extent, yes. .....

But he was NOT a good head coach overall.......

But yeah, I do think Tom Brady has propped him up to an extent- more so than Belichick propping Brady up, at least.

You didn't say fraud specifically. So you like him better than Schottenheimer?

The he did. He said he was a good DC.
Wrong. I said he was a "very good defensive mind," which he is. I said he wasn't a good head coach overall in Cleveland, which is also true- I think even he would admit as much.

What's funny is that you took the time to post what I said, yet you still misquoted me.

Everybody bags on Whitlock but he completely and utterly nailed this before last season was even over.

I agree with that article except for the re ed part about what he did as the Cardinal's offensive coordinator. Fitz has given Haley credit countless times for making him a receiver who does more than streak downfield and make circus catches. Other than clashing with Boldin in the NFC championship game he did a great job in Arizona.

He is a horrible head coach though. It's obvious he meddled too much and drove Weis out of KC. Scott Pioli is also extremely overrated. The Patriots' draft classes have had more depth, more impact, and less busts since Pioli went to KC. Pioli's last several draft classes in New England were awful and rarely produced impact players taken after the 1st round. One reason why BB has hoarded picks so much from 2009-2011 is because he knew the team needed to replenish its depth and overall talent because of how ty the 2006-2008 drafts ended up.

Chargers have some big targets at WR (and TE)...if Matthews continues to improve in the running game then SD will be nasty. Their schedule is favorable, and 12 wins w/ a bye is definitely not out of the question.
