LOL Texas.
LOL Big-12 (?).
News just broke that Mizzou voted to "explore options" instead of committing long term to the Big 12.
Mizzou's President was also the Chairman of the Big 12 board of directors and he stepped down. Looks pretty evident that they're on their way out.
Not really. Missouri has major television markets that OU doesn't, they don't have a little brother school who needs to tag along with them, and they don't have OU's problem with academics limiting their conference options.
Yeah, they'll be competing for national championships now!
We'll just have to wait and see. Beebe was practically holding the door open for A&M to take a hike, but the new commissioner sounds a bit more confident that they'll keep MU. I don't see them getting a Big 10 invite and if the SEC invites them, then the Big 12 could collapse and SEC would get the sued out of it, so I don't know if they would mess with the Jinga Tower that is the Big 12.
Like they were before![]()
Just like A&M football.
Chump's gotta be that UTSA guy that insists he's "basically" part of the Longhorn circle and he's just an off-shoot of the main campus, strutting around SA looking like the Horn athletic program threw up all over him.
Similar to those maroon-wearing s in Corpus Christi.
What does A&M have to do with anything. You said Missouri.
I am not an A&M fan of any sort so I could care less about them. But nice response that makes no sense.![]()
At this point, a lot of schools are feeling like this is AQ conference musical chairs and they don't want to be left standing.
I think a school like Mizzou has little choice but to take the sure chair if the SEC gives them one.
I like Mizzou alright, as an SEC fan I'd like them to join.
For some reason though they really hate the Hogs. I'm not sure if it's cause Mike Anderson left them to come here, but he raised his kids here when he was an assistant and has a lot of friends here as well, I wouldn't be mad at a guy or school for that.
And also ever since CBP took over we have been recruiting their state hard. Their best RB ever to come out of HS was Ronnie Wingo Jr., and well he turned out to be not that great though, just average. So I don't see why they'd still be mad about that.
Anderson is recruiting their state hard still though with the likes of Jarnell Stokes who is leaning towards being a Hog. But before he wasn't interested in Mizzou anyways so yeah.
We do owe them one on the gridiron though after they slapped us in the Cotton Bowl 5 or so years back. When all the crap was going on with Nutt, his textual relations (lol), and how he handled Gus Malzalhn that caused him to skip over to Auburn as well as a million other things, Arkansas asked him to step down and accept a buy out in which he did, just before that bowl game. McFadden, Felix Jones, Peyton Hillis, and our team was upset about it and we didn't play well at all and Mizzou ate our lunch. So we do owe them one there.
After last year's embarrassment of getting stood up by the B1G, one would think Mizzou would already have something lined up before going public about "exploring options". I think they've already got the wink and the nod from the SEC, but thanks to Baylor we have to wait for the SEC and Missouri to put on a charade to give the whole thing legal cover.
I think the SEC will hold at 14 teams after their final selection - but is/should Mizz be at the top of their list if only 1 more school gets in for now?
FWIW.......
Report: Missouri hopes to join SEC
According to this report SEC is and was not there 1st choice....

I'm sure the SEC would have preferred an ACC team like Virginia Tech, Florida State or North Carolina. But the ACC circled their wagons. So once you scratch off the ACC teams as unattainable, Missouri moves to the top of the list.
I still do not believe SEC is a shoe in at this time for Mizzou..I think its 50/50 where they go from here between big 12 and SEC.
They're gone. They ended up looking like fools last year when they said they were going to look at leaving only to find out that they didn't have anywhere to go. I can't see them making the same mistake a year later.
Even if they do still want the B1G more than the SEC, the smart move for them is to go to the SEC now instead of locking themselves in to the Big 12 for 6 years. There are no exit fees in the SEC.
To be honest if i'm the Big 12 commish, I give mizzou a limited amount of time before they must proceed without them. I do not feel like Mizzou is a death blow or even close to one if they leave for another conference.
The SEC ADs met today to discuss A&Ms acceptance into the league and to start working on 13 team schedules for sports next year.
I do believe that if Mizzou does leave and follow the guidelines that A&M did and file an application for acceptance then the SEC would vote them in.
If the big 12 wants any chance at staying together long term they need to get back to atleast 12 teams. Losing Mizzou and going back down to 8 is not a good a thing. They should seriously consider merging with the Big East if they really want this league to last well into the future.
I cannot see the big 12 going above 12 teams if mizzou leaves. The only big east programs I keep reading about as possible merger teams are louisville, WV, and TCU. I forgot to add Cincy as another team as well
