When are the democratic debates?
Tonight at 7 p.m. New York time, Bloomberg Television and The Washington Post, in partnership with WBIN-TV and host Dartmouth College, will present the first debate of the 2012 campaign focused exclusively on the economy. Charlie Rose moderates. He'll be joined by Washington Post political correspondent Karen Tumulty and Bloomberg White House correspondent Julianna Goldman.
Tonight's GOP debate is crucial, IMHO, to Perry's campaign and give it some life that it desperatley needs. Cain is surging (but we've seen quite a few GOP candidates surge then falter) and he must continue to appeal to that mob known as the Tea Pary.
Of course we'll hear "9, 9, 9" once again from Cain and Steady Romney will be the same presidential self he is.
What I'm wondering is how quickly the issue of Romney's religion will come up and if Never Ready Perry will rise to the occasion or do the Texas two-step and dance around the question?
Should be interesting.

Those would be racist. Barry is the nominee.
Yoni still cracks me up.
Right now the GOP is entertaining the idea that anyone besides Romney will get the nomination.
And by "bounce back" this means he must "tell more effective lies"?
FACT CHECK: Slippery assertions in GOP debate

I'm not aiming this at you JoeC, I'm just asking, with politicians why do any of you expect anything less then b.s.?
Joe Scarborough's take. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540...56805#44856805
Perry will go down in flames tonight. Everyone is tired of him trying to take all the credit for Texas job creation and he will repeat the same old BS. Romney doesn't have an economic plan other than "I created jobs" on wall street and was a successful governor...Cain and his 999 plan stand out in sharp contrast to the rest of them and he may just get separation tonight.
Willard and jobs?
Mixed job picture when Romney was Mass. governor

===
But why is anybody expect govt to create jobs? when the Repugs say govt can't create jobs, and the sacred, worshipped market will solve all problems?
Government can create a business friendly environment that promotes private sector business expansion and job growth.
In other words, the opposite of what the Obama administration has been doing.
same old boring
Romney: "Obama has no idea how to run this country"
Perry: "I'm the piñata in here"
Cain: "9! 9! 9!"
Bachman: "HPV vaccines blah, blah, blah and buch of irrelevant "
GOP "candidates". they have no chance vs. Hussein
So the role of government is to promote private expansion...IN OTHER WORDS, to cater to already well entrenched special interests. Nice.
(Characterizing that as the opposite of what Obama has been doing is more than a little misleading IMHO.)
LOL goverment needs to get out of the way of the banks and corps that caused this 2nd depression
No the role of government is not to promote expansion, but rather to just stay out of the way of expansion. And yes, the big government/big business agenda IS Obamas agenda.
last time goverment stayed out of the way the Real Estate crisis exploded. Yeah, let's try that again![]()
so the minimum wage and underage labor laws should just go away? Cause companies expanded greatly before they were implemented.
There are some major flaws with Cain's 999 plan. More people will pay more for basic goods and under his plan there will no deductions on Federal tax so basically an 18% tax.
Yeah, I think Perry is toast unless he hits it out of the park tonight. Look for some attacks on Cain. All attention will be on the the top three and the others will just take up space as the top three will be standing side by side.
yeah 9% sales tax is bull . Just go shopping in canada and find out how much it sucks
So? You agree that taxes will have to go up. This way, eliminate deductions and everyone gets whacked equally. No more special favors for GE and wall street brokers.
There'll be plenty of "Christian"/social conservative bull tonight.
Republican Presidential Candidates Divert Focus From Economy
In an election that's supposed to hinge on jobs and the economy, the Republican presidential contest in recent months has been defined by almost everything else.
Immigration and children's vaccines. Race and religion. sexuality and health care. The issues range far from the economic woes that concern most voters, but they have captivated Republicans in New Hampshire and other early voting states, providing the candidates with ways to distinguish themselves from their rivals. The biggest applause lines on the campaign trail usually have little to do with a candidate's economic positions.
The dynamic was on display Monday, even as the contenders prepared for a Tuesday night debate focused solely on the economy.
"Even the richest man can't buy back his past," intoned a web video that Texas Gov. Rick Perry rolled out to assail chief rival Mitt Romney's personal wealth and the Massachusetts health care overhaul that Romney signed into law. "America's most damaging prescription: RomneyCare," the video said.

The Repugs don't have clue about how to get the economy moving again, and don't want a clue if it was handed to them. They want the max people in max pain until Nov 2012, intending to gain political office on the pained backs of the citizenry.
This isn't happening. You and I know that.
Eh, it may not happen but his 999 no deduction plan certainly differentiates him from the rest of the pack.
Herman Cain, the Polls and What Race Has to Do With It
Cain told Lawrence O’Donnell Thursday night that he wasn’t involved in the civil rights battles of the ’60s because he was in high school. “If I had been a college student, I probably would have been participating,” he said. When O’Donnell pointed out that Cain was in college from 1963 to 1967, “at the height of the civil rights movement,” Cain went into brain-freeze, saying, “I graduated from high school in 1963, OK? I didn’t start college until the fall of 1963.” Huh?

Yet another blindly ideological Repug asshole who doesn't GAF about facts and science (he lies that there's no science that gayness is NOT a choice), even the facts of his own life.
Someone doesn't know how the party system works. Go look up party precincts and primaries and try and understand the process.
I agree that its a big issue but its how both parties run things and not just partisan bull as you would like to think.
