Yeah I know the CEO apologized for the outage, but my customer doesn't give a about that. Do you know how hard it is carrying around a laptop just to see new email communications when you are on the go? Certainly cannot get any new information on the road, and the customer cannot do the phone call thing due to the requirements they have of including everyone else in the organization.
Funny thing, in sad sort of way, is that it's been going on for quite some time, and they just now started worrying about it. It happens at least once a week, where I do not get updates and the only way I know I should have is by opening up a laptop and getting on a VPN and verifying.
I know there are other services, but it's a company thing.
Don't we have radar? Is anyone using it? Why do we have so many problems?

Ummm, every provider has at least a CrackBerry AND Android option, many have an Apple option in addition. Why would you have to change providers? Are you with Alltell?

If his company is like mine, they provide the Blackberry and don't offer Iphone or Android. Sure I could buy an Iphone and get my work email on my personally owned Iphone. That's not the point. If there are issues with email, I cannot send a personally owned Iphone back in to my IT group to get it replaced. If it gets lost on a flight, stolen, dropped, whatever, it's an out of pocket expense.

Not me, that's for sure. It's paid for and Fed-exed by the company to my home, so it's free to me for personal use but it's already setup with all the stuff the company needs on it. It's monitored and managed by the IT group.
I'll take free cell phone/internet service and deal with a ty phone over paying some of the fees some pay for that .

Mine works fine for me...but I'm not doing much beyond checking the weather and occasionally getting directions. I like the regular keyboard over touch screen and it gets really good signal too.

I usually get about 60 emails a day, most of those are direct communications from customers or internal departments. When I don't get an email for 30 minutes, I have to use the "reconcile now" function and sometimes I will get an avalanche of emails after using it. Then there's the one or two days a week that I get nothing before 9am when I should have some automatically generated status emails, and suddenly around that time I get another avalanche of emails. It's annoying when you are on the road and don't know if you are missing out on something.
