Like hard-core public opton health insurance should be run as a no-profit public utility, there should banks as no-profit public utilities.

electricity, water, roads, fire, police, etc, are all public utlities, why not money?

this is not nationalizing the for-profit health insurers or for-profit banks. Let them compete with non-profit public utilities/coopeeratives. If the for-profits can't compete, or can't find niche not covered by the public health insurance or public bank, then 'EM (because they have/are/will us).
