The false conjecture here is that if you're protesting the 1%, you're giving a pass to politicians. That's not really the case, IMO.

Just remember to blame yourself if there aren't any jobs available once you graduate.

    Sincerely,

    Yoni, Cain, et al.
Given how much time I spend ing around on this site/doing other completely useless things with my time, while I could be doing plenty of much more productive things preparing myself to enter the real world, I'd say that if I can't find a job once I'm done with school then I'd certainly take some blame for it.

You'll take all of it, and like it.

    - Signed H. Cain

Seriously though DoK, I wish you luck. There's nothing like living through a situation to add some perspective to things. Life experience trumps all.

I know it's not, but IMO protesting the top 1% for doing what they've always done, whatever they're capable of to put as much money in their pockets as possible, is stupid regardless. The only thing that's changed in the last decade is that deregulations have gotten way too out of control and now their most profitable investing methods are at the expense of other Americans.

Expecting Wallstreet Investment Bankers to actually give a about the "bottom 99%" and sacrifice profits to help others is unrealistic. I'm a believer Thomas Hobbes theory, I think people are naturally greedy, cut throat and willing to over whoever is necessary if it's in their best interest. It's a belief that's neither liberal nor conservative but rather extreme/radical, but protesting Wall Street IMO is protesting people for acting according to human nature.

Not necessarily disagree, especially the giving a part, but it wasn't always like this. At least, the amount of concentration over so few historically has never been like this. Notice I'm not saying that whatever percentage at a given time that were at the top didn't influence politics as much, just that that such group has gotten more and more select over time, reaching the fabled 1% you hear about today.

That said, this is all exacerbated by the current economy. If employment would be halved (5% or so instead of 9%), you'll hear a lot less whining. IMO, it's never been one fact, but a combination of them. Batch of ty politicians + bailout + depression + unemployment... it all adds up.

Oh I agree with this especially with the part about the top never influencing government as much as they do now, which is a large reason why I have a bad hunch that a full blown class war and overthrown government is what will solve the economy. The government is completely bought off.

With Article 6 of the Cons ution there does not need to be a violent overthrow or warfare. We absolutely need to revisit the Cons ution. That it does not even consider political parties is absurd. I also think that the meaning of the subject in the 14th Amendment needs to be clarified.

The single member district, winner take all system made a lot of sense 250 years ago when there were no such things as electric light, cars or network communications. What we are left with is a do ent that creates a government that is unresponsive to the governed.

The cons ution is definitely outdated and I'd be for editing it but it would open up a bad can of worms. You think the Religious Right is bad now? Dominionists would be coming out in droves to support the Republican who promised to add America being a "Christian Nation" to the cons ution.

    this

Don't want this batch of politicians even near a cons utional amendment... it will probably end up with 1,000,000 pages full of bull tagged on it, of which 3/4 are all not specific enough so they can interpret as they see fit.
