Comment from QB Tommy Armstrong of Cibolo Steele about UT recruiting him:
"Nebraska is where I'm going and Texas wasn't my first school to talk to me. They are a great program but I'm a Husker."

Add a fourth QB to that list of guys Harsin has requested video on. QB/ATH Jalen Overstreet of Tatum is now in the mix. Some of you may remember his name being mentioned earlier on in the year as a take at ATH, but nothing really materialized between him and UT. I believe he does want a shot at QB on the college level. Definitely the best runner of the bunch and he compliment Brewer's skillset.

Poor video quality but a good look at what Overstreet brings to the table:

2013 WR Jamar Gibson of Baytown Sterling decommitted from Texas A&M today. LSU will supposedly be a player going forward. Not sure if UT will pursue him at this point.

He committed way to early for a blue chip WR. He should take his time like most others that commit early like that.
* In addition to those four top leaders, Peat expressed he would like to take another visit if possible. Other schools with a chance would be Notre Dame, Michigan, USC and Oregon.
* Peat told Scout he missed Nebraska visit (tOSU game) to take SAT to make deadline. He stated he would make it to NU for official.
* Apparently, Stanford is recruiting him the hardest, with Nebraska a close second, and FSU also on him hard. Upsetting to not see Texas be mentioned here considering the need and his talent level.
* Peat is up to 300+ lbs from 280 lbs previously reported. Guy is a 6' 6" beast with incredible technique.
I'm glad Peat is playing in the Under Armour game as he will be surrounded by Texas commits, because this one looks like it is going to play out for a while. Am curious when he will come to Austin.
I like Overstreet, but he's an ATH all the way in my mind. Personally, I'd be surprised if Overstreet played QB at the next position.
Ranking the 2nd 2012 prospects :
1) Tommy Armstrong. True dual threat and can really spin it.
2) Del Barnes. Also true dual threat, but I wish he ran more. Could be an instinctual thing.
3) TJ Millweard. Pro style. Good QB, but his skill set is too similar to Brewers'.
4) Jalen Overstreet. More of a runner playing quarterback in my mind. I can't project him as a QB at this time.
Honestly, it feels like Barnes might be the guy that Texas takes. He was the first on the radar, and is being lightly recruited by Division 1. Texas could snap him with one phone call. From Armstrong's public statements, he seems like a tough get.
Here's the most updated visitors list for Texas/OK State:

Some random notes going into the weekend...
**DE Torshiro Davis will have some company when he arrives in Austin. His high school coach, mother and two of his teammates will be by his side. One of those guys includes 2013 DT Christopher Robinson who is supposedly going to be highly sought after in the next recruiting class. Bo Davis has been working hard on this one assuring Torshiro that he'll have the opportunity to play early should he pick Texas, but the Longhorns are going to have to absolutely wow him this weekend to have chance. The good news is this is considered an unofficial visit so he can still come back to Austin for an official at a later date.
**There still aren't many details of what went down when ATH Daje Johnson visited the UT campus last week, but he's finally mentioned that he "hasn't heard anything specific" from the coaching staff about an offer. This could be the weekend he finally gets one and it's looking really good for UT should that happen. He's just waiting for it at this point:
"It's just Texas," Johnson said. "I really like the tradition. It's Texas and it's right down the street."
**Things are still progressing slowly, but surely, with ATH Corey Coleman but the good news is he and Darrell Wyatt are supposedly in the process of setting up an official visit to UT. If that were to go down then it's safe to assume he'll get his offer. He's also staying in contact with WR Cayleb Jones on a regular basis. Coleman has two official visits set up so far; Oklahoma on November 5th and Cal after his high school season ends.
**2013 DB Antwuan Davis of Bastrop continues to be a recruit that's all about UT. He'll be attending his third Longhorns game this weekend. The bad news is he recently suffered a back injury and there's a chance he misses the remainder of his season. He's scheduled to see a specialist soon. It sounds like something a few months of rest will take care of, but we'll have to wait and see what those MRI results look like.
**2013 OL/DL Jake Raulerson of Celina received yet another verbal offer this week. Michigan State came calling taking his total to 21 offers before his senior year. Pretty incredible. Still a Texas/Florida battle, imo.
**We haven't heard much thus far about UT contacting 2013 DT Isaiah Golden of Elysian Fields, but Stacy Searels (his area recruiter) called to check in this week.
**2013 LB Brett Wade of Kennedale added another offer to his list as well. Bill Snyder and Kansas State reached out to him this week. Oklahoma is also starting to pick up their efforts and it looks like they could offer down the road. Some more quotes from Wade about UT:
“It was really cool,” he said of the Texas-OU game. “Both teams fought hard. Obviously, Oklahoma got the best of Texas. I can’t be mad at Texas for what they’ve done, we’re in the same boat, we’re both young. They’ll get it together soon.”
“I got a letter from Texas like a month ago that said they started 20 true freshmen which is unheard of, that’s crazy” he added. “Playing young, that sounds like a great idea, but by the time I get there they will be ready to go and a team to be dealt with. Just about every team in that league is young. The teams that are not young are the top teams so that’s how it should be.”

I really like the bolded quote from Wade. He seems to already be making plans.
Per Hook 'Em 24/7 today, the UT staff has been pursuing a committed player other than the usual names we talk about. They said they will release the name soon after they get permission from his coach to do so. Any guesses? No word if it's a big name or a second tier guy. OL Michael Starts, OL Greg Brantley, OL Tre'Von Armstead or DB Edward Pope are names that come to me right away. If I had my wish it'd be ATH Kendall Sanders.
DE Devonte Fields of Arlington Martin would also be nice.
interesting floss. i'd love to hear we are on sanders, and just as much so for starts. i know the staff always loved starts and it was a major miss for him to commit to tech. at first i thought it was because we only offered him at OG; but apparently he was offered chance to play DL by staff. maybe the depth chart isn't looking quite as daunting to him at DL now. i think he'd be great on either side of ball.
Some additional recruits at the game yesterday that weren't previously mentioned:
QB, Connor Brewer, Chaparral (Scottsdale, AZ)
WR, Cayleb Jones, S.F. Austin
DE, Hassan Ridgeway, Mansfield
-------------------------------------------
WR, Jake Oliver, Dallas Jesuit
DB, George Baltimore, Mansfield
**Brewer is just awesome for UT right now with the miles he's putting in. Can't believe he made trips to Texas two weeks in a row to be with future teammates and recruit others. He was apparently talking up ATH Daje Johnson quite a bit yesterday. Is anyone else quietly confident about WR Jake Oliver? His recruitment reminds me of LB Tim Cole's a little bit. Everyone expects him to go to A&M but he likes UT a lot. Glad to see he's taking his time.
The more I've been thinking about this, QB Trevor Knight of San Antonio Reagan could be the guy UT is talking to. He plays a position of major need for UT and the kid has always wanted to be a Longhorn. He was hoping for an offer in February before the staff ultimately went with Brewer. In addition to that, his cousin (who posts on both OrangeBloods and Hook 'Em 24/7) has been more outspoken on Knight lately than he usually is. Interesting timing there. Knight is easily a top candidate for player of the year in San Antonio right now.
Some candidates for who that committed secret recruit could be after thinking about it more. Trying to look at positions of need:
TE, Dominic Ramacher, Denton Guyer (Oklahoma State)
OL, Tre'Von Armstead, Port Arthur Memorial (Baylor)
OL, Greg Brantley, Carthage (Oklahoma State)
OL, Michael Starts, Waco La Vega (Texas Tech)
DE, Devonte Fields, Arlington Martin (TCU)
DE, Danielle Hunter, Katy Morton Ranch (LSU)
LB, Jordan Richmond, Denton Ryan (Texas A&M)
LB, Dalton Santos, Van (Tennessee)
DB, Colin Blake, San Antonio Brandeis (Texas A&M)
DB, DeVante Harris, Mesquite Horn (Oklahoma)
DB, Jalen Mills, DeSoto (LSU)
DB, Edward Pope, Carthage (TCU)
ATH, Kendall Sanders, Athens (Oklahoma State)
Agreed it could be Knight, but it almost certainly a committed player at a school frequented by Texas and the recruiting sites. Hamilton keeps citing not wanting to burn the coaching staff as the reason for why he can't reveal the secret recruit. He's expressed a real concern for not being shut out at the school. Name a more valuable school information wise to a recruiting site than DeSoto. My wild guess is Jalen Mills.
Given JS' cryptic tweets yesterday about Case transferring, taking a second QB is a must. I wouldn't mind Texas taking Knight, he has improved as a senior, but I think we can do better. I think Armstrong is better athletically, and Millweard and Childress are more polished. Childress would be my top target out of the QBs under consideration.
Some Monday morning stuff...
**ATH Daje Johnson of Pflugerville Hendrickson finally told reporters this weekend that he has yet to receive a UT offer. He said he's still being evaluated by the staff and not sure when an offer will be extended. He plans on returning to Austin for the Kansas State game on November 19th partly because his father went to school there. UT is the only school currently recruiting him other than TCU.
**Not much to talk about when it comes to DE Torshiro Davis. He said he enjoyed his visit to Austin this weekend and Texas is now tied for second in his recruitment with Alabama, but still sits behind LSU (not a surprise). He still intends on taking three official visits and will return to campus later on in the year.
**DT Javonte Magee of San Antonio Sam Houston is still being very private about his recruitment, but it's worth mentioning that his good friend and teammate, DB Leo Thomas, decommitted from Arizona recently. This gives them and OL Ralphael Green a chance to revisit the possibility of the trio attending college together. Colorado is one school that is still trying to get all of them on campus at one time. With all of that said, A&M, Baylor and UT are the three schools pursuing Magee the hardest right now.
**No word if he is indeed that secret recruit we've talked about, but QB Trevor Knight of San Antonio Reagan has been contacted by the staff. Despite favoring the Longhorns early on, he stated that he's "very solid" to OU right now.
**2013 WR Jake Oliver was a bit of surprise visitor to Austin on Saturday. Here are some nice quotes from him about his gameday experience:
“He (Ash) looked pretty impressive to me,” Oliver said. “He was better than he was last week and I think if he keeps improving, he'll be really good.”
“It definitely raises my interest (Ash playing early),” Oliver said. “You see him have success and you feel like he'll be really good. Colt McCoy wasn't the greatest quarterback his freshman year and he ended up being one of the best in college football history.”
Injury update on DB Adrian Phillips. His shoulder came out of socket late in the OSU game on Saturday but it's supposedly happened to him once before. He's expected to be available for the Kansas game in two weeks.
