So what is going to happen to him?

He hardly played and apparently got screamed at by Brady and yanked from the game for running another wrong route.

It was worth a try but obviously it's not working out. Just cut your losses now and move on. They can't all work out like Dillon or Moss.

I think they will give him one more week or so, but it's pretty sad/pathetic.

I'm not sure why you'd "cut your losses and move on." He's not exactly hurting the team by not putting up big numbers. If he gets in sync with Brady and starts putting up numbers... great. If not, let him sit there on the bench.

Not sure why you'd need to get rid of him when there's always the potential of him figuring things out and being a threat to opposing secondarys.

He's had two months now. Even Reche Caldwell figured things out faster than this. Reche ing Caldwell.

He seemed pretty pissed about it after the game today. You really think it's a good idea to let the biggest attention in football sit on the bench every week?

Haynesworth hasn't been much better tbh

I still think a team with Wes Welker as its stud receiver is destined to fail

6 weeks and he still doesn't get it...an extra 2 weeks isn't going to make the difference. Cut his ass and beg Moss to come back. He might say he's retired, but every man has a price.

What happened to Price? I don't think I've seen him on the field at all this year.

tbh this has been my biggest fail of the season

i dont play fantasy football but i told all my friends that did that he would be a top 10 statistical WR in the league and be a huge steal in the later rounds

hopefully they didn't listen to me

He played a snap last Sunday. He has seen the field in other games but on ST only. They maybe feel they don't need to rush him in the offense now. Same can be said about Vereen

He has yet to complain and the cap hit NE would get isn't worth it. Keep his ass and hope for the better

This could be said almost verbatim about Joey Galloway two years ago. The big difference is the draft picks lost to get Chad, along with the signing bonus given to him.

Again, how smart is it to have the biggest attention in football riding the bench all season?

That is a big difference. Contract wise and also pick wise. How can you say those situations are the same?
Joey Galloway was also on his last legs, which isn't the case for ochocinco.

He has been all but an attention since he came to NE. He let them restructure his contract and has yet to complain.

I'm not saying that his diva and primadona personna won't show up... as we saw for Moss the nature comes back running, but at least it won't be this season.

They traded Moss the second he showed the slightest hint of a negative at ude, and I have no doubt they'll do the same with OchoCinco especially since he's been horrible. The fact he's still on the team tells me that he's still showing a positive at ude and trying.

I don't expect him to turn it around, but there's no reason to cut him if he's not a distraction at all.

Galloway was almost as productive in his 3 games with NE than Ohsostinko has been in 6.

Tell me something I don't know. He outproduced Ochocinco in his stint in NE but had no upside whatsoever. Chad is struggling because he has yet to grasp the offense. It's not because he should retire.

How the would you know this?

I see a guy who doesn't get the system, but also isn't finding any other ways to help the team. You're telling me that despite not getting the system, he can't simply grind his way to 3-4 catches a game? The great players in the league find ways to help even when they can't perform to their full potential. To me, that's a guy who is finished in the NFL, regardless of what team he's on. He can't bully Carson Palmer into forcing it his way any more, and now he's been exposed.

I know as a matter of fact that because he's sucking in NE doesn't mean he's finished in the league by any means.

First of all, this team is loaded on the offensive end at the skill positions. Both TEs are on the field almost at all times. A RB is also there to keep the defense honest. This leaves only 2 WRs to be on the field, which of course are Welker and Branch (both with incredible chemistry with Brady). Even when NE goes 4 wide, the 2 TEs are there and spotted wide (they are that talented) which still leaves 2 WRs (Welker and Branch) again.

This means that his opportunities are very limited. Either on a 5 Wide set, or when Welker or Branch need a break. But because of his struggles to grasp the offense, when he makes a mistake, he is yanked off the field (hence the Price sighting last Sunday just after Ocho run the wrong route). His window to prove himself is very slim and has done a very poor job of taking advantage of it. He has made some nice grabs from time to time, especially on the sidelines but that's about it. The way this offense is wired now (different than the first 3 games last year), Galloway would not outproduce him because opportunities are very limited.

If he was on another team with more opportunities he definitely would have more catches and more TDs.

Second of all, he's still in great shape and any struggling team that would take him and make him a 2nd receiver he would be decent. He's on the decline but far from done.

Galloway wasn't here last year. So get your facts straight before talking like you're so in tune with what's going on.

Second, you have no ing clue what's exactly wrong with him, or how much he has left in the tank. You're going by exactly what I'm going by - seeing what's on the field on TV and forming an opinion based on that.

I see a ty route runner, a guy who has no grasp of the offense, a guy who can't make the play when the rare opportunity presents itself, a guy who isn't fighting to make plays, and a guy who blocks for . Nothing from what I see says he's still an NFL caliber player.

Now, instead of your "I know because I know" bull , tell me based on WHAT YOU HAVE ACTUALLY SEEN how you can possibly think he can help this team.

Patriots aren't loaded at the WR position, and really haven't been since Moss left. Branch is decent, but New England hasn't been able to stretch the field the same w/o Moss.

Without that legit vertical threat on the outside, teams never really need to play 2 deep against NE. Credit to their offensive schemes and Brady's skill for milking the most out of the 2 TE set and continually putting up 30+ points. At the end of the day though, the smart teams will duplicate what Rob Ryan did: Rough up Welker at the line of scrimmage (disrupting his timing and route), give Brady multiple looks and blitz packages, and squat on the underneath crap. They just don't have the WR corps to exploit a defense vertically.

Ochocinco was brought in to make plays down the field, not run 3-yard sideline routes...that's a RB's job. The problem is he sucks, plain and simple. The one time I remember him beating his man down field (@Buffalo, against McKelvin) he dropped a sure TD pass.

    Moss is the answer.

    I agree on most counts.
Regarding the vertical threat, NE TEs (Hernandez mostly and Gronk on occasion) have done a decent job by exploiting match ups. This made DCs put more DBs on the field thus opening up running lanes. And the pats at least at this time have done pretty well in the big play department getting frequently behind the defense (Brady has missed some). So although not loaded at the WR position, this offense is still in good shape. The playoffs will be another beast and that is when Ochocinco suckiness might hurt this team.
The question here is not whether Ochocinco is sucking, obviously he is. It's whether there is a better option out there that would warrant getting hit by the cap (and no Moss isn't one) and cutting someone after 6 games that is only one of your 2 WRs already signed for the following year.
It's cheaper to keep him on the roster and hope for the best, than cut him, get hit by the cap and get nothing in return this season, or have another Wideout come mid-season trying to get on the same page with Brady (again Moss is not coming back even though he wants to)
