The more I think about it, the happier I am the Raiders got Palmer. I have faith in Hue Jackson, and he has pushed several times for the Raiders to get him, and used to work with him. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't try to get him if he didn't feel he would be a good fit here.

Most everything Hue has done since coming to the Raiders has been gold, and I'm hoping it continues with Palmer.

price seems a bit high, but all the pieces seemed to be there for the Raiders except QB.

They obviously think they have a Super Bowl shot this and maybe the next few years.

    worth the gamble, imo.

A 1st used for Carson Palmer
A 2nd to New England (Joseph Barksdale & Taiwan Jones)
    A 3rd used forTerrelle Pryor
A 4th used for Jason Campbell
A 7th used for Aaron Curry

That's a very bad way to build a team. I understand the Raiders don't do well with their early picks anyway but that is 3 picks (4 if you add the 2013 2nd rounder) used on 3 Qbs who are all gambles.

Also this means that they think their window is now which is odd considering they are a relatively young team. They got trolled hard by Mike Brown of all people

No one's really left out there anyway.
A lot of teams will really improve these next 2 years and Oakland doesnt seem to think they can afford the time to develop a QB and they want to jump ahead while everyone's still lull with the lockout.

  6. #31
Not that big of a price imo. The ghost of Al Davis would make them use those first rounds picks (or 1st and 2nd rounders) on a place kicker and the fastest black guy at the combines anyway.

    Terrible trade, tbh..

Palmer is slightly better than Campbell, not worth a 1st and a 2nd, a massive price to pay, for a team that relies on running the ball and controlling the lines of scrimmage..they could have potentially acquired an average QB for much less IMO..

In what universe is Carson Palmer worth 2 first round picks? I'd say only about 2 or 3 guys in the league are worth that much, and even that's debatable.

Bengals get at LEAST a 1st and 2nd for a guy who went in front of the press and said he would never play for them again? That is certified Charlie Sheen-style winning right there folks.

Apparently he will start on Sunday.

Also interesting is that last year, he was leading the league right alongside Peyton Manning for "least invited pressure", in that he was among the best in the NFL at checking down and getting rid of the ball before pressure could get to him. That should help the young O-line of the Raiders.

Expect Dmac to average 150 yds and 2 TDs in the next few weeks.

right, because d coordinators will be expecting Palmer to pass often which will open running lanes all over the place.

So you'd rather have palmer get the ball and try to beat the other team even after not playing for months.
Great strategy, I'll use it on madden.

You guys have no idea how bad Boller looked this past Sunday.

A rusty Palmer is better than Boller.

Id say 28 carries for 185 yds
4 receptions backfield / screen passes for 20 yds
    2 tds.

yeah, i think the fact that teams are selling out so hard to stop McFadden should make things a little easier for Palmer to get settled in. If he can throw the deep ball with any kind of accuracy, then defending play action is going to be a total for KC. The Raiders consistently get guys open downfield off playaction, Campbell just could never get on target.

I'm betting they give him the rock less than 25 times. My guess is 21.

185 yards is highly possible though against KC.

I wouldn't expect much from Palmer at all. I doubt he goes much over 200 yards if he hits 200 at all.

    Might not go over 150.

I don't expect that much from him this week, but I think he should at least be able to hit a wide open guy over the middle from time to time off of play-action, or check down to McFadden/Boss when pressure is coming. With the dominant run game the Raiders have had, any passer should at least be able to some wide open throws.

It was a good football move but unless they win a SB it was a bad business move. I expect Palmer to have decent stats, even this week.
