Except for, you know, a rooted Android. My Evo has a custom kernel AND a custom OS on it. Can you do that on iPhone? Nooooooooope.

Can you make your homescreen look like that on the iPhone? Noooooooope. You can virtually replicate iOS on Android though, with MIUI.

Personal taste aside, really, you can't go wrong with either. The 4S is a phenomenal phone and Siri is just icing on the cake, although Android does have it's own version of it that's improving day by day and already can do most of the things that Siri is capable of, although Siri is innately more flexible.

I'd boil it down, oddly enough, to screen size. Want a massive display you can watch movies on? Get an SII or the new Nexus Prime. Want a phone that's going to comfortably fit in any pants pocket and still give you good images? iPhone.

The differences are much less these days than any fanboy is going to make them out to be. Android is more customizable, iPhone is simpler to use.

Not sure, but a big deal for me is the fact that my Evo has hot-swappable batteries. That's absolutely huge. I paid $14 for 2 extra batteries and a wall charger. I can now go half a week (~80 hours) without needing to charge my phone up.

I embiggened some words so the haters don't get all uppity.

I can't believe you still have your Evo honestly, thought you would have gone for something newer by now. Nexus prime?

No need at the moment. My Evo still flies on Cyanogen Mod 7.1. I really see nothing that needs the dual core proc at the moment besides gaming, and I don't game on my phone AS much as I would have to to justify the upgrade.

I MIGHT switch to the Prime, but only if it comes out for Sprint. Screw the other cell phone companies and their 2GB limit. Not ever gonna pay to be capped unless there's no other option. I still love my Evo, and the screen looks almost brand new. I haven't even felt the slightest inkling of desire to get a better phone until I saw the Nexus Prime.

Did lefty seriously say a JB Iphone is more customizable than a rooted Android??

try installing your own custom kernel in the iphone and dual booting it

not the same, but you can install android on an iPhone. Very work intensive and difficult, but it can be done.

here is one of my buddy's hacked home screen on his iPhone 4. I tried it for a bit but it didn't have all of the icons converted and I got tired of messing with it, but it is neat looking:

You can always un-jailbreak it, tbh. And you have to actively go out of your way to brick your phone these days -the process is so simple and guided.

    ah i see

im slowly leaning more towards the iPhone because im seeing some of the cool customization jobs people have been able to do with jailbroken iphones.

    desicions desicions...

Despite what you'll hear from others, you can't go wrong with either. My iPhones served me well for the years I had them. A jailbroken iPhone is much better the a unjailbroken one, though.

The Galaxy S2 is clearly my favorite phone and Android does the little things I couldn't do before, which probably isn't a necessity for a lot of people. I'd try em both out but you won't be disappointed either way.

well, basically there are only 2 things that held me back from the iPhone 4s

    1. customizability of looks
    2. all the apps i have already purchased on android

but being that i can customize the looks, that makes me exponentially more open toward the iphone

but i would still hate to lose the apps i purchased for android.

How many could you have possibly purchased? Despite having 130k fewer total apps, the android market has about 20k more free or ad supported apps. Plus the paid apps on android are not that as expensive as they are on other platforms. Did you really spend a lot on apps?

if you jailbreak there are plenty of places to get free apps, torrent sites, etc. most of the on cydia is free anyway. my buddy didn't spend a dime customizing his home screen like that - it's Glaskart HD. He did make some of his own icons in photoshop thoughl.

however i have run into an incredibly bull situation with AT&T

i am currently on a family plan that i have had with my parents for over 10 years, however my parents no longer want to remain with AT&T

my intention is to jump off theirs and onto my wifes family plan that she has with her sisters with AT&T.

unfortunately, since she is was from Oklahoma, and the account originated there, they said that i will have to get a new phone number (with an Oklahoma area code), and cannot keep the special features that i was allowed to keep because i was a longtime customer (unlimited data), and will have to drop down to the 2GB limit.

    what a bunch of bull

Port your San Antonio number to google voice (so you can keep it), get the oklahoma number and attach it to your google voice account (when people call your GV number you can tell it to ring your OK number). That way, as far as everyone else knows, you still have the same number, but you don't. As far as the rest of the stuff, sorry that sucks.
