Finally we've found a scenario where Fabbs' "closer quarterback" option would work perfectly. Clearly Philip Rivers has proven he can't handle the pressure in late game situations. He can't even handle a ing snap to put his team in position to kick a game winning field goal.

Sounds like they need to get Volek back to close games. He led the Chargers to a playoff win in replace of Rivers, so he's the perfect closer for that team.

Serious discussion please, Ralph Wiggum/Chaz Bono/Jamie Kennedy's white rapper character/Hank Hill/etc need not appear at any point in this thread.

It should definitely be considered tbh. The closer QB is a very underutilized strategy in professional football.

And when your team has a proven late game choker like Philip Rivers, the best option clearly is to take him out of the game and let someone else get the victory.

    Why a closer "QB" though?

Why not just run a wildcat/spread/option offense in the fourth quarter with that Curtis Brinkley kid?

PR just needs a nanny (or two) and a vasectomy and he'll get back to his old self

I think getting PRivs over his gambling addiction would be better so as to not throw any more games.

But in the meantime yes, Bring Volek in if that is what it takes to handle a game winning snap.
