Seems I jumped the gun, quoting posts made before the child-ring allegations were made.

    Sorry, Jam and Alvarez.

"Joe Paterno will go down as one of the greatest men..."

Be careful, Bradley. You don't know how deep this rabbit hole goes.

Wow, the statement on that page is just ridiculous. So they knew of allegations but they did nothing until 2008?

This looks more and more ominous as things move forward.

Holy , a sex ring and a DA missing under su ious cir stances? This reminds me of when the whole Michael Vick thing was first breaking where you had such a shocking and seemingly out of nowhere revelation that no rumor or accusation, no matter how big, seemed like it could be dismissed out of hand.

Similar, except about a million times worse.

We could see a lot of people standing on trial before this is over with their freedom for decades if not the rest of their lives on the line.

& they let Sandusky post a small bail 100K. If I were him, I'd pack & run, or, commit sideways.

That's absurd. Especially given the fact that boosters might be involved in this. They could hide him for the rest of his life and he wouldn't have to spend another day in jail.

Show me where I made light of child molestation. I didn't and you can stop lumping me with anyone else.
Show me where I did it as well.

I'd like to see what you're going on about.

lol. Get your facts straight. In December when Tat-gate came about is was just the five players and the Tressel stuff was not discovered until January when the University was preparing the appeal for the players.

Knowing what was known in December the decision to let them play was the right one. It was the AD and Jim Delany that wanted them to play. Tressel wanted them to sit.

When the Tressel stuff came out in January I had no problem with the decisions that were made in May to vacate the season and return the BCS money. That was done to avoid any future penalties and not to punish the players who had already played in that game.

As for Joe Pa, it is sad to see it end the way it has, but when you fail that bad on a moral level, whether or you are a legend or an icon, it is time for you to go.
    bull .

if you suspend kids for one game or five, it should start with the very next game, regardless of where they are at that point in the season.
It happens like that in every sport. Players get suspended during playoffs all the time for infractions.

The fact that these Ohio St players got to play in the Sugar Bowl reeks of NCAA hypocrisy.

The only one that doesn't get that is stupid Ohio St fan that would have been pissed if they didnt play because he already bought his ticket.

I can't believe they're still playing the game this weekend.
I'm wondering more why Mike McQueary is still employed.

This. I am baffled. Every name involved needs to be held accountable. He witnessed and ran (rather than taking action), then sat on the info after telling Paterno only for nearly a decade? A gotsta go situation.

There was some blogger and/or radio guy speculating that McQueary might be protected by whistleblower laws, or that at least the university is taking their time to figure out whether he is or not.

No idea how accurate that is, but it's the only explaination I've seen that makes some kind of sense for why he's still there......

This makes sense, as he did follow "protocol" in his course of action. Still ridiculous as far as common sense goes.

Don't you have to be a whistleblower to be protected? I'm not sure walking out of the building while a crime against a child is being committed then calling your ol' head coach the next DAY qualifies.

Agreed. He clearly should have done more. But if he did barely enough to qualify for whistleblower protection then he's barely on the good side of being untouchable as far as his job goes.

I wouldn't think so either, but then it's about the only scenario that comes anywhere close to making some kind of sense as to why he's still employed there.

Hence why protocol was in quotes. It's unacceptable to me, but if his obligation is "fulfilled" by going to Paterno, and the whistleblower statute is applied, I see that argument. I don't agree, but I see that as the reason why he's not canned already.

Understood. He's got some balls showing his face in public or even to his team.

Of course, Joe wanted to finish the ing season too. People just don't get it.

Has this rumor been discussed yet?

Rumor: In a development that could blow this scandal to even greater dimension, Pittsburgh columnist Mark Madden told a Boston radio station that Sandusky had been pimping out young boys to rich donors.

Yeah, the idea of a pros ution ring even on a small scale seems like it would be tough to keep a lid on, though at rate this story is going the report Sandusky did such a thing once or twice seems like it's destined to come out next.
