It would have stopped that child from being raped at the time, absolutely. I don't think it was being suggested as a long-term solution, but if I walked in there and saw that, I am absolutely sure that I would have been kicking that guys ass. I can't believe someone would care enough about his career/standing in a school that he would see a ten year old helpless in a position like that and WALK AWAY. That is just unfathomable to me.
I have a hard time saying for sure what I would do if I saw one of my superiors raping a child because I can imagine my brain would have trouble processing that for a while.
After it sinks in, you absolutely have to involve the authorities.
tbh this isn't the kind of response i was expecting from a guy who spends all day ramming the barrel of a gun up an inmate's asshole for amusement
My concern would not be going into shock and doing nothing.
It would be the worry that I wouldn't stop hitting the guy after I got him off the kid. Maybe with some kind of blunt object.
I think this is a fair question. I know we'd all like to state with certainty that we'd take action. We can hope while hoping we never have to prove it.
However, Sandusky hadn't been his superior for years, and while the the 28-YO grad assistant probably had a long-standing appreciation for Sandusky, I can't really imagine the idea of "confronting a superior" was what stopped him. Probably more the psychological ramifications from witnessing that.
They unfortunate aspect for him is his stalled action/continued silence led to him being a despised scapegoat, while had he taken action and been a real whistle-blower immediately, he'd have gone down as a hero and likely would have had his career even furthered from the ensuing good will.
Just a gross miscalculation of priorities, it seems, not just for Mc y, but all involved.
We have to wait for Media to tell us. They're runnin' this in' show and have been for the last 15 years.
What is your evidence of this?
Expect some re ed cop out response, "I don't use evidence. It's my religion."
http://blog.pennlive.com/davidjones/...deouts_he.htmlPenn State's deposed receivers coach Mike McQueary, today placed on what the school called "administrative leave," moments ago told his receivers on a brief conference call that he was in "protective custody" at a secluded location not in State College.
McQueary, witness to the alleged sexual assault of a 10-year-old boy in 2002 by Jerry Sandusky, has been the subject of physical threats. He is the key subject in further investigation into the scandal and potentially could be the single most important trial witness.
On Friday afternoon, according to two team sources, new receivers coach Kermit Buggs gathered his players in a room at the PSU football complex and allowed them to talk with McQueary on a speaker phone.
During a brief and emotional conversation, McQueary told them, “I wanted to let you guys know I'm not your coach anymore. I'm done.”
When players asked, "Coach, where are you? Can we see you?" McQueary responded, “No, I'm actually in protective custody. I'm not in State College.”
McQueary added that he was, "Double-fisting it," meaning he was having two drinks at once.
It was decided by school officials yesterday that McQueary would not coach in Saturday's game against Nebraska after he received threats.
McQueary, 37, has been a full-time coach at PSU since 2004, specializing as the receivers coach and recruiting coordinator. He was the Nittany Lions' starting quarterback in 1997. He is married with a 2-year-old daughter.
He'll trace it back to Randy Weaver.
What's scary is the amount inbreds in Arizona who think just like Cully
Apparently, Mc y didn't always have the history of being a wuss...
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08100/871627-143.stmSuspended Penn State receiver Chris Bell was kicked off the team yesterday after his latest run-in with the law.
According to a university police report, an agitated Bell threatened defensive end Devon Still with a knife Monday night during dinner at the team's dining hall.
Bell, 21, is facing misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and harassment.
"Chris Bell, who had been previously suspended from team activities, is permanently removed from the team and will not be reconsidered to be a part of the team in the future," Penn State spokesman Jeff Nelson said in a statement.
Penn State police say they responded to Pollock Dining Commons at 6:28 p.m. Monday to reports of a male wielding a knife.
Receivers coach Mike McQueary told police that Bell entered the dining hall and approached Still, who was seated at a table. McQueary said Bell, 6 feet 2 and 213 pounds, had a cooking knife with an 8-inch blade and started an altercation with Still, who is 6-5, 296.
In the police report, Still said he suspected Bell had taken his cell phone case from his locker earlier in the day. Still also accused Bell of stealing other items from him in the past. Bell denied those accusations, but as he approached Still and pulled the knife out of his shirt sleeve, Bell told Still: "Come get the case and I'm going to stab you."
Three Penn State assistant coaches -- McQueary, offensive line coach Anderson and safeties coach Kermit Buggs -- were able to restrain Bell and take the knife from his hand.
As Bell was being escorted from the dining hall, the police report said he shouted at Still: "I have more knives and a gun up here."
Sort of makes his inaction look that much worse.
LA Sports radio was reporting a media guy back East predicted this whole Penn State deal 6 months ago. Can't remember name of guy. Said he was bombastic and over the top and so a lot of what he said was blown off due to his rep. But now if you read his 6 months old article it's like exactly what just came down at Molest State.
i am kind of tired of everyone saying they would have, 'beat sandusky's ass' ...maybe, maybe not. if you try and put yourself in mc y's shoes, not only is it his superior, but someone certainly admired.. performing an act incredibly distant from any sense of familiarity with that person. its absolutely nuts. i don't know how many of you have come across a kid getting raped, which i might add, is much different than running into someone you know, raping a kid. the latter much more difficult to process.. much more.
..sure, right now i would think i would physically stop it no matter what. but, it sure is easy to talk about.
Uh...
You can't bring your weapon inside a corrections facility...
but only intelligent people would have known that.
I've put a stop to fights before. I've seen men getting into altercations with women and got between them without a second thought. Obviously the gravity of the situation in this case is that much greater, but I think if I could do that, then I can do this. It's not me saying I'm a tough guy, just saying I don't think I could stand by to watch it. That doesn't make me tough at all to rescue a child, IMO.
Sandusky was retired, he wasn't a superior to Mc y at all.
Maybe not technically, but you always call a coach "coach". Always feels like a superior I think to just about any player.
There is a goodly amount of posters on these Boards who agree with my McVeigh point. They're just too afraid to say it aloud. That's okay, I'll say it in honor of McVeigh.
I owe him that.
Media would like to make a hero of McQuery, but, they ain't quite sure "we're" that in' stupid.
tee, hee.
i would hope thats what i and others would do.. just think its funny how so many are harping on the fact they would stop it 100% and cannot fathom why mc y did not do anything. i could understand mc y's actions, though i certainly do not condone them.
..easy to say, and typical banter.
Um I was on your side. I think JGW defending Mc y is re ed. If I saw my freshman gym coach in high school sodomizing a 14 year old right now I wouldn't give a about him being my "coach".
