The Office needs more Dwight & Creed and less Jim & Pam. Also I liked old Andy way better than new Andy. And I don't find Robert California funny at all (though the whole List situation was pretty good).

I agree with this. I think the problem is that they don't have anyone that can take on big minutes. They've got a great quirky cast that they write great funny short scenes for. But they don't have anyone that can carry a full episode like Carell did. They've tried it with Andy and Darryl and both episodes failed.

One more episode like that Garden Party one, and they can consider the shark officially jumped.

agree completely on the too much Pam and Jim thing. What's always great about The Office is the big number of characters all with their own schtick. NONE of them have really been utilized so far. It's like they're all there just to show Robert California attention while Dwight, Andy, Darrell, Jim, and Pam seem to have their own show

EXCLUSIVE: Dwight Schrute may finally be off to greener pastures… literally. I hear that NBC is working on an Office spinoff starring Rainn Wilson for a potential midseason 2013 launch. No deals have been closed yet but I’ve learned that the proposed spinoff is a family comedy, which was the brainchild of Wilson and The Office executive producer/showrunner Paul Lieberstein. It will have Dwight (Wilson) living at the Schrute family beet farm and bed & breakfast, which have been featured on the show several times, including in an episode where Jim and Pam visited Dwight there. (photos below) The potential spinoff will be introduced in an Office episode later this season set at Schrute Farms. “Paul and Rainn have been joking for years about Dwight’s life on the farm, his family and how ill-suited he is to run a B&B,” a source close to The Office said. “A while ago, it started to feel like a show to them. NBC agreed, it’s been further developed to include multiple generations, many cousins and neighbors. (It is unclear if that would include cousin Mose who has been featured on the show.) At its base it will be about a family farm struggling to survive and a family trying to stay together.” Wilson and Lieberstein will executive produce the spinoff with The Office executive producers Ben Silverman, who has been working with Wilson and Lieberstein on the development of the project, and Howard Klein. Greg Daniels, who developed and executive produces The Office, is not involved in the offshoot. He has his hands full already with The Office, Parks & Recreations and his newly picked-up NBC comedy pilot Friday Night Dinner.

The Office NBCThis is NBC’s second stab at launching an Office spinoff. Under Silverman, the network seriously considered the idea during the 2007-08 season but the efforts were ultimately re-directed to the Amy Poehler-starring Parks & Recreation, which hails from The Office‘s Daniels and Michael Schur.

If NBC proceeds with the spinoff, that will not mean an immediate departure from The Office for Wilson. If the veteran comedy is renewed for a ninth season as many expect, Wilson will return in the fall before segueing to the new series in mideason. Deliberately or not, the writers on The Office have been planting the seeds for a potential Dwight departure from Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton office. Deeply convinced that he is the best salesman there, Dwight was crushed whenThe Office Spinoff 2013 it was Andy (Ed Helms) and not he getting the manager job vacated by Michael Scott (Steve Carell). Ever since Michael left, Dwight, now No. 2 to Andy, has been unhappy and looking to do something new. He recently flew to Tallahassee to interview with uber boss Robert California (James Spader) for a position there. The setup for the spinoff, with Dwight moving to a new family environment is reminiscent of the Cheers spinoff Frasier, which also featured a switch from a workplace to family format, moving Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) to a new locale.

Even with the promise of a potential new show, NBC is also serious about trying to extend the mothership series. I hear that The Office producer Universal Television has re-opened discussions with the other key Office cast members, approaching them over the past week or so with informal offers for next season. None of the core Office cast members, including Ed Helms, John Krasinksi and Mindy Kaling, have deals for next season, and while the studio can’t formally sign the actors before there is a renewal for the show, it is trying to shore them up in anticipation of a pickup. It may not be easy to get the whole gang back together. Helms has movie offers lined up, including a Hangover trequel. Krasinski had been hinting that this could be his final season on The Office as he too has been busy in features, including co-writing and starring with Matt Damon in a movie directed by Gus Van Sant, which will start shooting in April. And Kaling, who is also a writer/co-executive producer on The Office, has been actively developing her own shows and has a live-action and animated comedy in contention at NBC.
    thoughts?

imo I can't see this spin-off being funny and if Dwight leaves then The Office is done, plain and simple. I've been super impressed with the show so far without Steve Carell but you can only cut so much off before it just sucks. He was always the #2 guy as far as comedic value when Carell was there and then after that everyone is pretty much even

Yeah it's a stupid idea. NBC has milked The Office dry. It's time to put this show out of its misery. Make this season the last season.

No Dwight and the show is over. Ed Helms' talent is wasted on the Andy role.

Andy was a great character all the time before and during the Angela thing but now he's just a normal person with a dash of goofiness

It seems as though I'm the only person in here still watching this...

I wanna punch Nellie straight in her face. I'm so confused about what's happening. They better have this thing worked out in the end for Andy just like when Michael and Pam quit.

The office has been less and less funny but it's still watch-able because I've always been a fan and I still want to keep up with the characters... other shows are better at this point, and community has also taken a dive these last few episodes.

It is a shame they elected to continue this show without Carrel. This show pretty much exhausted whatever funny it had. Now its just running on fumes.

Nellie and Robert suck bigtime. This season was pretty decent early-on (and much better than the abortion of last year), but started getting really ty again once Nellie got introduced. It's fine to have an evil character if she's interesting; the way Jan just sucked Michael's soul away and made him miserable was hilarious. Nellie is just stupid and annoying, and Robert is an extension of another awful and boring character (Gabe).

Angela was a great character, but her time is now reduced by useless crap like Erin, Robert, Gabe, Ryan, and Kelly. Amazing how they turned Ryan from one of the funniest characters into one of the lamest over the course of the show.

Regardless of the dropoff, it's still one of the top 5 sitcoms. Cast and writing are better than almost anything else. As far as the networks go, only Modern Family is consistantly better.

The problem is that they were all great quirky small bit characters. But one SC left, they had to fill the void so they all got too much time. The biggest case in point is Andy. Whem he was limited to a few line a show, he was gold. But obviously he can't carry an episode. Much less the manager position. If you've been paying attention, they've all gotten shots at more time but no one has been able to pull it off. I think that's why they keep trying these off the wall chacters.

Sucks now, tbh. And I loved this show before.

Creed is the only character I get a laugh from on the show and he only gets like 2 lines every other episode. The rest of the characters suck and i actually use to like the ensemble. Darryl's okay too but the writers give his character bad material that I don't find him funny half the time. The Nellie character just pushed me away forever.

They should cancel it already, tbh.

Glad that some other people on here watch P & R and Community. Two of the best comedies right now, imo.

Agreed on Community. The last few episodes have been too gimmicky. Tbh, Alison Brie is enough to make me watch an episode. And I like Donald Glover's work. Still a good show. Hopefully it picks up again especially since it was on hiatus.

And Parks and Rec is amazing. Ron Swanson is one of the most badass characters of all time. It makes sense that the Office lost its funny when the writers moved to Parks and Rec.

I certainly think these two shows are better than shows like How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, and The Office which are all more popular for some reason.

Do not compare The Office to HIMYM and TBBT. It may have gone south from the greatness that it used to be but it's still better than those corny laugh-track sitcoms. Any sitcom that uses a live audience these days sucks ass

I'll agree about TBBT.. that show stopped being funny a long time ago.. everything is predictable and that chick is not funny at all. HIMYM though.. has 2 good characters that make me watch it.

So they better wrap this up quick, fast, and in a hurry. It's getting terrible. Dwight has pretty much become self-parody, every episode doing something so over-the-top and cringe worthy it just makes me roll my eyes. This Pete mother er hitting on dumbass Erin (who's been the worst character in the entire series) while Andy is STILL gone?! And last and DEFINITELY worst, Pam's overly emotional ass being friendly with the sound guy. The fact that they showed part of the behind the scenes crew pisses me off enough, but does he have to be the cliche got heartthrob with the ty beard?

oh, and that fight he had with the warehouse guy?...smh
