I dont hate shaq I just wished he would of given us more. sure he won 3 rings ...but he left at least 2 more and plenty of regular season wins on the table ...

As for why SOME (many are still Shaq apologists) Laker fans hate shaq ...

    1. He refused to play defense if he did not get enough touches ... "if the big dog doesnt get fed he doesnt guard the house" The Big aristotle
    2. His lazy pick n roll defense
    3. His petty fight with shaq
    4. his feud with Dr. buss
    5. His refusal to have off-season surgery "i get hurt on company time, I will get rehab on company time" - The MDE

I did NOT LIKe any of the above ...but i dont hate him for it. I just despise how he coasted after he rang and won MVP Finals MVP in 2000. and he knows it to ...o hope that is in the book as well.
Almost every franchise player has moments with teammates and the front office. MJ had his moments as well.

The Shaq hate started after he left LA. While he was pulling the plow, Laker fans were all smiles just as you are for Artest and were for the Pau trade when Pau was pulling harder. If Artest bolts, Laker fan will call him every name in the book and point out the fact that Artest sold his ring and changed his name. The name Metta World Peace will be dragged through the fora like it came from Jasper. Nary a peep about him now though.

As you all thought Rodman was cute & quaint when you latched onto him. Then when he quit in the middle of a playoff run & ratted out Robinson he wasn't so cute & quaint anymore.

    You mean like that, D?

    tee, hee.

No you are wrong I was IN L.A. at that time. his feud with Kobe which originated WAY BEFORE Colorado, had many Laker fans divided. Many sided with shaq but many more were tired of Shaq's lackadasical at ude. Sure, Kobe is a arrogant prick. But he almost always gives 110% and has maximized his natural gifts. O'neal accomplished a lot but was more natural gifted than Kobe but accomplished less.

As for Pau and Ron. Find me a thread where I trumpeted him as a saviour. In fact, when my boy from L.A. called with the news all excited. I was mehhh. My heart was set on KG. And Pau though skilled was not that. I was also mehh on the artest trade. But glad we made it despite him sucking most of last year...we dont beat the Celts without him.
Yes, most Laker fans are not like Spur fans that want to blindly hold on to players past their prime. Maybe because we KNOW we will get new stars to replace the old ones.

Remember I am a BRuin alumnus preferred Ariza, just wished his agent wasnt a dumbass ...

He does, but not gifted like LBJ, young shaq, TMAC or Vince. Kobe's athletic gifts more on par with Young Grant hill or Pippen. Great athletes for sure, but not a "freak" like those guys or young MJ.

Being way smarter than all of those guys is something I consider natural talent.

    Vince?

VC had athletic gifts perhaps never seen before or since. Lebrons are good, but he's nowhere near as fluid as VC.

Too bad Vince didn't have the heart for it.

I'm just checkin' assholes and yours was next.

I never had a problem with the worm. He's always been OK in my book.

Odd that you had to go back that far to find a pseudo-example though. Kinda proves my point eh?

There is no statute of limitations on quitting. Your Rodman quit. You're responsible for that.

    Your regrets are your own.

Nothing new. Shaq likes to talk lots of Smaq. He's never at fault.

There's a statute of limitations on relevance. You've long exceeded it.

^His/their best one is "Punch Drunks"....turned into an absolute dynamo upon hearing the tune "Pop goes the weasal" they bring with them to the ring Larry equipped with a violin so he can play it and spur Curly on. Unfortunately Curly sits on it and destroys it. Larry now in panic runs from the arena and up the street in search of a musical instrument. In the meantime Curly is getting the livin' beat out of him. Larry comes across a parked car that is playing the tune on it's radio. He climbs in speeds back to the arena and crashes thru the wall and up to ringside. Curly hears it, and makes a miraculous comeback. At times an equally emotional, inspiring entry into the The Three Stooges chronicle.
