I'll try that this week as I tour the brewery! I love their brown ale.
I like some BrewDog beers, but they priced themselves right out of my interest. I'll grab a pint occasionally at Draught if they have it.

This is the best stout I have had in a long time, had it at GABF:

Surprised none of the Texas breweries have something similar, it was delicious.
No, but there are a lot of really good Belgian beers out there. You should sample all you can. Root Cellar/Darkside Fermentation makes some pretty good ones - their Sirius Dubbel is on tap right now.
Costco has a package right now with 3-.333 liter bottles of Chimay blue, and a Chimay Goblet for 13.99 right now. Just saw it yesterday.
I like Chimay as well, but as has been said, there are many good Belgians that you should try. I think you would be happy with many of the beers from St. Bernadus brewery (I have said it before, but Watou Trippel is my favorite beer if you can find it). Satan's Red De Block is a good Belgian Pale ale and won't break the bank as quickly as the others.
Hope not, 'cause I love it, too. Though, my favorite Belgian right now is Pranqster.
We still need to get together and knock back a few.
For sure. When I get back from NY, we can watch a Spurs game and grab a beer![]()
Thanks for the Costco tip. I've had a few St Bernadus and all were solid
I like many Belgian beers, but wanted to make sure I wasn't a .
lol beer snobs, drinking at home is pretty lame anyway and i don't think they sell any of this at the bar. just go and order a few millers tbh, chill out scros.
crofl actually it's the opposite for me. If I'm going out to a bar I get my beer snob on, and when I drink at home it's High Life and Keystone Light.
what kind of bars are you going to where they got all this fancy stuff brah? some hipster bars in dallas or something? not saying i wouldn't try it if i was out but i've never really seen all these uncommon brands at any bars ive been to tbh
Many of these can be found at Flying Saucer, the yard house, I believe twin peaks has a good selection (haven't been there yet). , Chesters Hamburgers has about 100 beers to choose from. The "favorite beer" that I mentioned above, I got it when my wife and I went to dinner at a restaurant called M two up in Austin on fourth street.
.... This is not to say that I don't enjoy having a good Duvel at home every once in a while.
Also, with my family on Thanksgiving, my father, my uncles and myself always bring some random box of beers so we all have a great variety. I just bought the Leinenkugels Winter variety pack to bring to Thanksgiving. We shall see how it turns out.
Austin has a lot better bars than here, that would explain a lot. Here in Arlington they're all pretty generic..maybe I should get my b3eaner on and go to Fort Worth?
All of the places that I mentioned (other than M-two) are in San Antonio. I am sure that the metroplex has both a flying saucer and a yard house.
Metroplex is a pretty big place tbh, I ain't drivin an hour to Dallas just to get a beer crofl. I'll see what Fort Worth has to offer.
Yeah there's lots of places in Dallas for beer snobs. The Old Monk and The Ginger Man come to mind right off the bat.
Last time I went to a bar, some cougars anonymously picked up my tab =)
I believe it was a pitcher of a strong beer... wouldn't sell it.
I think generally if they sell it in an 8oz glass they probably won't sell a pitcher or growler. Those beers usually take a lot of time, money and effort to make so I don't begrudge them that.
Is the Old Monk Uptown? I think I have been there a couple years ago, they had a great selection.
Old Monk is on Henderson.
Meddlesome Moth has a great selection. Goodfriends is a new place on Garland Rd. and Peavy that's worth checking out as well.
I have seen various brewery reps tweeting about special casks at the Moth, it sounds great.
?
They sell pitchers, but the reason for not selling had nothing to do with time money and effort... something about it being too strong for 2 people or something, not sure.. and there was 3 of us.
Regardless, I was in mood for some strong stout, so I just went to BJ's, and I believe the alcohol content was about the same of that I wanted to try... didn't understand it but I guess next time..
